I attended Scarborough hospital ENT today and was seen by Dr Thiru Siva. Such a pleasant gentleman and put me at ease straight away. Very informative and lots of empathy for my situation. I was seen on time and felt I was listened to and dealt with straight away. The nurse was very nice and friendly too.

Having waited 16 months I received an appointment only to be told after 3 days the appointment was cancelled due to the surgeon mr polyzois had booked a holiday he had forgotten about so my surgery was cancelled I then received another appointment same surgeon I starved myself for 24 hours and had one glass of water in that time and spending 8.5 hours in a small room on haldane ward I was told at half past 4 having been Tod to present at the ward at 7,30 hours that Mr Polyzois would not have time to compete my surgery that day I was not alone as 3 other patients were sent home one of which a cancer patient who had spent £70 on a taxi this scenario does not in-still any confidence in the services provided by the hospital haldane is a day surgery ward and as far as I can ascertain Mr Polyzois only did 2 operations in the 8.5 hours I was in the ward I was told that he had difficult cases should they be day cases?

I was first diagnosed with Cancer by a wonderful consultant. passed to Castle Hill and recieved amazing treatment. I have since been under the same consultant and her team. they are loving and dedicated. Nothing is ever too much trouble, I can't fault my care over the last 3 years. THey are always so busy yet never rush you. Make time to sit with you and explain things and they never ever make you feel like your care isn't important. I was again admitted recently to be seen by the gynae team and again they were excellent.

I was admitted to Maple Ward as an emergency early March and was extremely nervous about what was going to happen. All the Staff, without exception, were excellent, kind, caring and patient. In fact, I would describe them as loving and dedicated. Throughout the night I was monitored and the Night Nurse was amazing - so gentle and caring. Nothing was too much trouble. Fortunately, I recovered quickly and was able to go home the following day. But I will never forget how wonderful all the staff on Maple Ward were, and how quickly they brought my condition under control. Fantastic professional people! Many thanks.

Answering the above questions was difficult, as 99% of the staff and experience were excellent! I attended the Urgent Care Centre after taking a fall. The reception and the woman who interviewed me provided excellent, professional service and care. My case was transferred to the A & E, which also provided excellent and professional care and treatment from the moment I stepped into the A & E, until the woman who put a sling on my arm for a fractured elbow. Before that moment, the physician and care provider who took my blood pressure and pulse provided the highest level of patience and professionalism when I suffered pain and worry. Everyone other than the woman who put a sling on my elbow has my highest praise. The horrible nurse who was putting a sling on my arm after my elbow was fractured. This thin, middle-aged, medium height person in a blue uniform: kneeled down to floor level between me and two strangers in the open area of the A & E and said, "Drink more water" whilst looking directly at me. I replied, "What? In front of two strangers, this woman said, "If you add water to your alcoholic drink, you won't fall ...." In shock, I replied, "I fell at 10.30 in the morning when I tripped on a hole in my rented flat that has had a hole in the floor covered by carpet for 16 months, when I was in a hurry to get to a hearing appointment on my day off work!". She did not apologise; the man next to me who was there for a herniated disc became involved in the conversation, saying that I should sue the landlord. This woman should be fired due to her lack of professionalism and poor judgement.

Wrote a review about breaking my humerus in October. Went back for 6 weeks review. All ran to time. Lots of helpful advice as to what happens next and referral to physio. Asked to see original X-ray. We were shown them with a detailed explanation and all our questions answered. Excellent

My husband of 40 years has had many trips to Scarborough’s&even over the last couple of years and on 19th November last visit where he died in the resus room he had been a very ill man ‘ . Our day started at 2am and we called for the gp he wanted to admit my husband so rang 999 we have had paramedics before but god one of them this time was so arrogant voicing and snapping at me ; I had to get his wheelchair out of the back of our car To save them getting theirs; she moaned sharpley about everything and barked at me in confrontational way about one of my husbands problems ; I am a community nurse nMyself and had looked after my husband for many months , the a&e staff were all right this time but in the past some of them have been sour faced and vile , I trained at Scarborough in the early seventies and the standards of compassion empathy caring and professionalism have dropped terribly , sometimes all it takes is a smile to win us over
