Attended eye clinic and was discharged after several yearly appointments. All staff are lovely, helpful and cheery. Major downside is the exterior of the building where taxis, cars, ambulances and smokers create a toxic atmosphere. Engines are left running and you could cut the air with a knife, it is absolutely shocking. I was only passing through this but there were babies in pushchairs sitting in this atmosphere. I was absolutely shocked and couldn’t get out of the area fast enough. I can go back to the clean air of the Northumbrian countryside however the staff at reception can’t and you could still smell the contaminated air in the reception area. Absolutely shocking for a hospital. These issues should be addressed as soon as possible.
