I went into Royal Preston Hospital after having a mastectomy with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction. The care I received was amazing from the surgical team to the staff on the ward. You made my stay pleasant and stress free. You treated me with care and compassion and made me feel in control at all times. Staff on ward 3 were brilliant, it was almost like talking to friends. I cant thank you enough for looking after me. You are all amazing!! Although my staff on the ward was a pleasant experience I must say the food provided is appalling. staff encourage you to eat your meals in order to recover however for me the food was inedible. This must be looked into.

I was admitted to Royal Preston hospital in August 2020 suffering with a brain aneurism and was treated by Dr.Allelade and his team ,although I have no recollection of this, I am relaying what my husband and two daughters have told me. Dr. Allelade rang my family before the surgery and explained that it was a difficult operation ,to treat, as the location of the aneurism was in an awkward location to treat. He told them ,that as soon as he had performed the operation that he would ring them up to tell them how it had gone. Which after several hours in surgery, he did. He told them he had done his best and that I had responded well, but also not to build up their hopes as the next two weeks were critical. My family and I were grateful for his honesty. Shortly after my operation I went back down to theatre to have a drain inserted to stop the build up of fluid which was a success. I was admitted on to ward 2A. During my stay in hospital I was visited every day by the doctors ,including Dr. Allelade to monitor my recovery. From what I can recall, he showed concern and compassion and answered my questions truthfully and professionally. Any queries myself or my family raised with him, mainly my family as I wasn't fully aware of the medical implications at this point. Everyone says I am very lucky to have come out of this as well as I have. Yes I agree I was lucky. Lucky that Dr. Allelade was on duty that day to save my life. And lucky that he has the great skills to do so. I'm lucky that he was so good to my family, discussing their concerns over the phone, at a time when he must have been so busy and showing kindness to myself as well as my family. Now to the care I received on ward 2A. After surgery I was admitted on to the ward. I can honestly say i was well looked after, the staff were helpful, friendly and caring. Any question or concern which i raised regarding my treatment was answered as honestly as possible. The nurses went above and beyond their duties for the patients, even when due to a water infection which caused confusion and not being very nice,I was still treat with understanding and compassion. I don't think I have apologised until now. By all accounts it lasted about two weeks. I must have been a nightmare for them.(I was a moaning old bag before the aneurism). I must admit I felt very safe and well looked after on ward 2 A and would like to thank all the staff on ward 2A ,Dr.Allelade and the theatre staff for the excellent care I received. On being discharged from the hospital after 5 weeks, I was given the telephone number to contact the specialist nurses , Charlene and Ruth to discuss any concerns that I had once I got home. I have rang them several times and they were very helpful and reassured me that what I was experiencing was absolutely normal following this type of surgery. Their support was invaluable. So a big thanks to them. What a team Val Holden

I had a really professional and supportive experience recently from arriving at A and E on the 8th January and being seen by the Receptionists, the Triage nurse, an Urgent Care doctor and the on-duty Plastics doctor to my care on the SAU ward that evening and through the following day whilst I waited for my operation that took place late afternoon on the 9th January. I can not praise everyone enough especially the staff on the SAU ward and the Plastics Doctor and team that carried out my operation.

Treatment I received was excellent. All the staff were very helpful and went out of their way to do anything that was needed. In my case everything was fine and I couldn't have asked for more

Being told you have a melanoma & then finding out it had spread to my lymph nodes is quite upsetting. My first meeting with one of the skin specialist nurses was quite informative with so much empathy both to me, my husband & my daughter's. Sam (the nurse) told us everything without holding anything back but without making me feel scared, she answered any questions we all asked in turn & had the time to answer without rushing. Since then I have spoken or seen most of the nurses on the team, they are all very helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. I have had a couple of operations now the last one being pretty major. All the ward staff, theatre staff, dressings clinic staff, Bernie in Occupational Health, Oncology Department staff & Consultants Dr Board & Dr Prasad have been most caring & helpful. Also now the staff on the Chemo Ward. In fact everybody who works or helps in the hospital have the same attitude by helping with any queries and making you feel very much cared for. I couldn't ask for better treatment& care.

I had an infusion 2 weeks ago and today on Fell view ward -Preston. I can’t thank the two nurses enough! Lovely friendly and very caring and made me feel comfortable. They were run off their feet, but always positive, explained everything clearly to me what would happen during the infusion and after. Made my experience a good one. 5 star treatment.

The whole experience was stress free, or as stress free as it can be if you are having an operation, thanks to the friendly, helpful staff. A special thank you to Beccy who looked after me before and after my operation. She is a real credit to the hospital and her profession.
