This is an excellent hospital, with good communication, great doctors & consultants who ensure their patients clearly understand their health issues.

Great Nursing team, discharge team and Porters, whilst in hospital Really poor aftercare - in fact there isn't any aftercare. Once you are out of the hospital, they are not interested in you at all. No support or help.

I am applled by the lack of care and compassion shown by this hospital, its consultants, and management team, they really just don't give a dame about there patients, you are 'a number on a spreadsheet' to them. The treatment (or lack of) I have received under this department in the past 2 years Is appalling it really is, results get lost/mis-placed, they never take responsibility for there actions, always someone else's fault. Talk about well I might/might not do surgery, if it was this we maybe could, it's ridiculous how you are treated. The consultants will tell you how they are all about patient care and patient focused, that's too your face, once your out the door, there is no patient care regarding follow up or emergency situations. You are just ignored by all Another hospital has now questioned the lack of treatment and issues that have happened too (this is with themnow seeing the results), as believes things should have happened in a more timely manner, and things have certainly been missed. I would 100% not recommend this hospital and advise anyone to go somewhere else, if you are looking for someone who will truly (as some NHS colleagues do) care for you and provide the treatment you need, please avoid this hospital.

Suggested improvements
My whole care plan, it has been appalling from start (sadly not at the end yet, but fearful of going back there) Follow patients up when you are saying you are going roo, don't leave them for nearly a year Management teams attitude is awful, they and the consultants need to take responsibility for there actions

What a fantastic hospital full of engaging and brilliant clinical teams. I cannot thank you all enough for the amazing care you all gave me after my operation. I felt looked after and safe in your care. When I left the hospital I was fully aware of what I needed to do, the tablets I needed to take - the departure lounge was brilliant and very different to acute hospitals where they just say a couple of things and then throw you out. I was looked after until the moment I got in the car to leave at ROH. Thank you all for your support - I cannot thank you enough.

Review of Oncology

I have a benign tumour of the knee which is slowly getting larger and damaging the knee. Anyway, I've spent a week and hundreds of pounds getting to and from the hospital this week for preops, mris and finally today which was the day I was having it removed. I'm in alot of pain as well as having fibro and arthritis. Told to arrive nil by mouth at 7.15 am which I did, bought my bag because I was told 2 days stay. By about 9 30 I saw my consultant and told that would have to wait in the waiting room until about 3-4 pm to be admitted and prepped for surgery if the other ops went smoothly. HOW is it acceptable for a patient to wait 9 hrs nil by mouth in a waiting room ? ? Absolutely disgusting. I walked out no pun intended in the end. I now have no surgery, I'm in pain and nerve pain and I'm broke ! I'm so upset and angry. 9 HOURS !! FOR A PREPLANNED OPERATION TO REMOVE A TUMOUR. I am so upset. How dare you.

Suggested improvements
Stop skintflinting on surgeries and treat your patients better. So disappointing. I was told only they remove my type of tumour. The only ones in the country ! So I'll just wait till my knee falls off and get taken into A and E and it would be quicker.

Even though a gloriously sunny Saturday morning all of the staff I came in contact with were very pleasant, polite and seemed happy to be helping patients through their appointments. The service was efficient and professional. A lovely hospital, spotlessly clean and well organised. The NHS at its best.

I was at the hospital for three nights in March after having surgery on my lower back to relieve pressure on my spinal cord. My care was excellent and the staff were all kind and courteous.
