Everything about this hospital was good apart from a communication problem which occurred between my GP practice and the hospital in the first instance. I believe that the problem lies in the system rather than either institution. Both were keen to do their best but the communication system failed to involve the patient (me) and ended up with me not having an MRI scan when I had a serious issue in my back and only being seen for the first time 7 months later. Had I been put in contact with the hospital directly (as would happen if I was making an appointment for an Xray for example) this problem would not have occurred. Several sets of emails (written by my Dr and the Hosp) about this situation should be on record somewhere.

I’ve stayed at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Northfield Birmingham from 22nd Feb til 6th March had 2 spinal surgeries and have to say they’re all amazing here. I’ve been treated with respect and every one was so caring. My surgeon Mr Haleem is outstanding, he visited me every single day during my stay sometimes even twice and he made several phone calls to my husband to give him updates, he’s simply amazing and so dedicated. Now I’m looking forward getting a speedy recovery at home Thank s again Mr Haleem, Mr P Rehousek, Orlam and all the nurses in intensive care and ward 4 who looked after me during my stay. Review of Admissions and day case unit
1st February 2022

I had my foot surgery 18th.January , in Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham. I was planned for Daycase Surgery, however, stayed overnight on ward 4. My experience as a patient , and the way I was treated was exceptional. Mr Guduri and his team are all truly outstanding . I would like to say a big thank you to ; My admission nurse Anne( working on her birthday) on Day Surgery , and her support staff . Mr Guduri my surgeon , his Registrar, and the Anaesthetist who looked after me. All the Theatre Staff, the Recovery staff( Jenny in particular ) Ward 4 Sister on eve of my surgery( I think Rachel was her name) and to Linda the night nurse looking after me overnight . You are all amazing in what you do. As a nurse myself, I appreciated all the wonderful care given to me during my brief stay. If I ever need orthopaedic Surgery again, I will be heading up to the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham. Thank you all. Margaret Clements.

I have visited Northfields Orthopaedic Hospital twice for appointments with my Mum. Every member of staff we met was cheerful and helpful. It was clean and efficient-we were seen on time on both occasions. Mum’s care has been excellent in every department; X-ray, scanning, consultant clinic and pre op. The NHS at it’s best!! Many thanks to all, we happily recommend you.

Review of Physiotherapy
14th January 2022

Overall care was very good.

Suggested improvements
I found the one to one sessions with the Physio far more helpful for my recovery. The 'Gym' sessions helped and had benefit of more machines to improve strength. Ideal care would be a mixture of both one to one and Gym sessions.

Review of Spinal
12th January 2022

My interview was delayed by 30 mins. but Mr. Hakeem gave a meaningful explanation and apology. He then proceeded to conduct an admirable consultation in all respects: interpersonal skills, description and explanation of my condition and the options available and the arrangement of future treatment. My input was also treated with respect

Suggested improvements
just the 30 minute delay but I found this acceptable
