The place was filthy. There was no sanitiser anywhere. Never saw a nurse wash their hands. Never saw a nurse use gel, even before taking bloods. One assistant nurse had her mask round her neck for prolonged periods, and I saw her pick her nose and then immediately use the computer keyboard with her filthy hands. A senior nurse had her mask under her nose and picked her nose while talking to a consultant, then wiped it on her uniform, and did not wash her hands afterwards. No-one challenged them. Patients were told to take masks off once they were on ward, before even Covid and MRSA tests had been done. I was utterly traumatised, and insisted on leaving once urgent tests were done, rather than staying in for 5 to 6 days. The 2 surgeons I saw, and one junior doctor were very good, however. The one toilet's floor was swimming with water, so I mentioned it, fearing someone could slip and bang their head. It was still like that when I left 2 days later. Even without the global pandemic being factored in, it's utterly appalling. I am terrified to go back (to a different department) for urgent treatment, because I still feel utterly shocked and terrified of the possible consequences of being in that hospital again.
