Admitted to ward 16 for routine procedure and overnight stay. The admitting nurse showed no empathy to my nervous state, almost like I was an irritation to her. Was left alone for 3 hours until my operation, when the operating department came to collect me. I cannot fault the theatre staff, anaethastist,or my consultant in any way, they were fantastic and caring. On my return to the ward,I had to move beds, which I understand, but the ward was not busy at the time. This was at 6.pm. I received water, then was told I would have a cup of tea, this was brought at 10.30,I received nothing to eat,was told they’d bring a biscuit but again, this wasn’t forthcoming. So I was without food until the next morning.more than 24 hours. I was very upset about this obviously.. When I was discharged,I just received a letter.,no advice on showering, bowel moments,or any helpful advice. On leaving,I was expected to carry my bag downstairs, considering I had just had prolapse surgery,I finally asked a nurse to help me as was advised by my consultant not to lift. My experience wasn’t a nice one.And I would be reluctant to go to ward 16 again. In my experience,Kendal hospital is superb compared to ward 16
