I’ve had a CT scan and Endoscopy recently and on both occasions staff were courteous and friendly. What could have been unpleasant and scary was made as pleasant as it could be. I am very impressed with the efficiency and empathy of everyone involved. I came away delighted and in great admiration of all involved in my care that day.

I was admitted to the the elective care ward C7 west and couldn’t fault the care. From my pre admission Covid test to my discharge I was treated with the utmost care and kindness. Nothing was too much for any of the staff and the ward was kept immaculate by the member of staff responsible. My consultant, Mr Cordell-Smith and his theatre team were also amazing; I always felt that they were genuinely interested in my welfare. All my outpatient appointments were also carried out with kindness and care.Thank you Royal Gwent Hospital.

The hospital is extremely shabby and not very clean in communal areas. Seating is patched, the toilets are not very clean and the flooring is poor.

I was taken to the A and E department over Xmas with a heart attack and then transferred to University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff for angioplasty where 2 stents were inserted. I was then transferred back to the Royal Gwent for recovery. I can tell you that the treatment I received in all departments of the Royal Gwent Hospital was amazing. All the doctors, nursing staff, auxilieries and cleaning staff I came into contact with were so caring, helpful and cheerful, particularly considering the pressure they all work under. People love to criticise the NHS, but all I can say is that the superb care and attention I received was at an outstandingly high level!

I was taken ill suddenly on Thursday, December 20th, admitted to ward C7 West by 2 am on Friday 21st and stayed until the 26th with a plan for further care once results are in as the cause is still unknown. Within 24 hours I had an ultrasound, X-ray and CT Scan, followed by an appointment for a biopsy on Monday 24th. All staff that I came into contact with were extremely professional, polite and caring. The care provided by the nurses on the ward was impeccable and whereas I feel it slightly unfair to single out one because the care was so great overall, Nicola really went above and beyond. Due to the Christmas period, there were less staff but it didn't impact on the care I received and all of them did their best to get me out on Christmas Day to see my young boys. I feel very honoured to have observed the community, team-work and support between the staff to run the ward, it was extremely heartwarming. Whilst in C7 West a gentleman became lethargic and fell to the floor outside my bay, within 3 minutes of the first nurse call, 9+ nurses were attending him and 9 on-call doctors had appeared from all over the hospital to care for the gentleman. It was really amazing to watch the reality of what these people do every day which we are not aware of. I wish I could have filmed it to show people who moan about waiting times when using the NHS as they are saving lives all day every day. I feel extremely upset to think that privatising the NHS is on the cards, and would recommend fighting for it like I will be doing with my family. What an amazing service and what amazing staff.

I am a patient of Velendie cancer care cardiff, but had the misfortune to have a stay in the Royal Gwent Newport. Their support was excellent and they even kept Velendie informed as to my progress, for which I was extremely grateful.

I had a fall and badly fractured my humerus on my right arm I was taken to Stay immediately and the staff were so kind and caring I was taken into treatment where we saw the extent of the damage I had done. They fitted a device to pull the bone fragments back together and stitched my eye.they were very professional and very caring.I have now been discharged after having also had physiotherapy at Panteg which again was excellent.but the care I had and kindness from everyone involved I will always be grateful for. They work under difficult conditions and are not treated with enough respect
