The hospital is working flat out to cope with the demand yet still manages to retain the kindness thoughtfulness and politeness making things so much easier for the patients

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2015, had a mastectomy under the care of Prof Keshtgar, then chemotherapy and radiotherapy under the care of Dr J King and have in the last year had reconstructive surgery under the care of Dr Daniel Marsh. I am very grateful for the high standard of care I have received from all departments and would like to say a special thank you to 2 North the day unit in which I had my chemotherapy, contrary to my expectations it is not a depressing place to be, the staff are professional.very kind and create an upbeat atmosphere. Dr Daniel Marsh and his team have also been very supportive and allowed me to make my decisions about whether to go ahead with the reconstructive surgery based on the thorough information they made available, I am very glad that I went ahead with it. Thanks to to the breast clinic, Prof Keshtgar was a lovely man in whom I had total confidence and will be sorely missed.

The treatment I received from everyone concerned before my operation was faultless. The information I received after my operation about my recovery time and discharge/leaving the hospital was a bit patchy with nurses changing shifts/having their breaks so there were a couple of crossed wires. I had to search people out to ask if I could leave which was a bit frustrating as I was also trying to link up with my wife who was collecting me and having a nightmare finding somewhere to park.

I feel that the out patient clinics are so overbooked that many people have to wait a long time to be seen and then have to wait up to an hour to collect prescriptions. This is not only upsetting for patients who are feeling unwell but also for carers who are concerned about parking fees.

It was a bit disorientating as it was so busy. Not enough lifts for so many people. Consultants I met were extremely up themselves. I met three, and they seem to think they are God. Nurses, I met one, who was both sullen and Miserable. Private doesn't seem any better than NHS there. I think if the consultants stop looking for case studies and ignoring patients that do not match their requirements for research material, I think there would be an equality of treatment for all.

I was booked in for day surgery and woke up in recovery with the surgeon explaining that I would need to stay in for a week. The care I received during my stay from the surgeon, doctors & nurses on ward 5 North A was outstanding and even beat any private hospitals that I've previously stayed in. Such friendly medical staff & everything seemed to run like clockwork. The icing on the cake were the free daily massages offered for patient well being, what a lovely touch! My only only gripe would be admin staff especially those who answer general calls. I found them so rude! Overall a fantastic hospital though.
