Review of Outpatient Team 3

Great communication from reception staff to doctor. The Dr was brilliant, actually physically assessed me and discussed symptoms and discussed them with me and set up tests. She was best doctor I've seen in ages! Didn't wait either - turned up few minutes early and seen within 2 minutes of arrival - simply perfect appointment and experience.

Suggested improvements
A water machine would be nice - but otherwise can't think of anything to improve on as great in all aspects.

Move noisy, nuisance patients to separate area , it is not fare on other patients, none of us want to be there, but we should expect to a little piece of quiet when trying to get some sleep

Review of Queen’s - Accident & Emergency
3rd April 2023

One arrival I was feeling very unwell and had to stand inline to be seen and assessed. The lack of communication was awful from one person to the next, apart the last department I was in and the lady was more informative. The attitudes of staff was cold and completely uncaring. At one point I had to ask was I being as assessed as there were only two questions directed at me. I was transferred to the department and was left for hours and not updated until asked. They could not find my notes and everyone seemed unaware I was referred to Queens hospital for an urgent MRI, they tried to say I didn't need a MRI after sitting and waiting patiently until myself and my family got fed up because they couldn't find my notes. Luckily I took a picture of them. I wanted my spine to be included in the MRI along with my head as discussed with my GP but they only do my head, so now I have to start the whole process again. Staff seemed fed up and un bothered but when working in this field you need to pay attention to the needs of sick people and show compassion or do another job. I have never been treated to disgustingly while trying to seek medical attention. Everyone was complaining so it was just an awful all round experience.

Suggested improvements
Be more polite, don't loose my notes. Check if you are ok to stand and wait for assessments. Explain why you are be transferred from one department to another. Update patients with procedures. Show a little compassion even if it's fake.

Review of Antenatal Ward
3rd April 2023

My stay on Antenatal ward was brilliant. I was pleasantly surprised with the care I received. This was my first baby so didn't really know what to expect. My Midwives were Ruth, Vanessa and Margaret. They were all so very friendly and made me feel at ease. They were professional and informative. I felt very comfortable in their care. I was sad to leave the ward as the itcwas so pleasant there.

Suggested improvements
Serve toast for breakfast and not just bread with jam haha I found it so bizarre. Obviously this is not down to the Maternity team I know.

I had fantastic care on antenatal and labour ward but when I went onto postnatal ward I was a bit disappointed. As this was my first baby it was a bit of a minefield. I needed more help and support with breastfeeding. I did ask for it and it and did receive some brief help after some time. Also I had to request pain relief and then wait ages for it. This is no disrespect to the midwives they are absolutely brilliant I just don't believe there are enough of them to look after the amount of patients they have on postnatal ward. My friend refers to it as cattle ward and now i know why.My day 3 appointment with the community midwives was great and all the information I got is what I really needed on day 1. However my midwife was still great. Just rushed off her feet!

Review of Labour Ward

I felt really well looked after with my stay on Labour ward. My Midwives were Mo and Mikayla. They both treated me really well and with respect throughout. They were very friendly and professional. And the Dr's and Nurses were also amazing and were very informative with their decision making with my care and I felt completely safe in their care.

Review of Queen’s - Accident & Emergency
2nd April 2023

I have already given positive feedback on the two paramedics from the Ambulance Service (Dave and Laura) who provided excellent care throughout my time with them. I would very much like to echo these feelings with regard to all the hospital personal who attend me on my recent visit. From the staff who originally attended me, tacking blood samples, pressures etc right through to the paramedics who conducted the necessary tests (X Ray, CT Scan, E C G, etc) I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation. Everyone conducted themselves in a caring and professional manner. I understand that my D&vV condition meant that I had to be isolated in the corridor but on each of the test, I was taken to the appropriate area and seen immediately again by personable staff who explained the procedures and conducted them quickly without stressing me. Even a "bit of banter" with the orderly taking me for the tests helps lighten the mood. Special thanks to the Clinician who conducted the final tests and finally released me to go home. She was very caring, explained what was happening and made it all stress fee. Very well done to all.

Suggested improvements
Because of my D & V condition, the ambulance Paramedics had to stay with me in the corridor for approximately five and a half hours ( kept in isolation). I do understand the need to be "providing care" but I was frustrated that I was "tying these valuable people up" all this time and wondered if alternative personnel or facilities to be provided to free them up? Not a criticism, more frustration from an old engineering manager as I understand this happens quite frequently and there may well be financial consequences for this.
