Review of Coral Ward

Very disappointed with the after care of the delivery of my baby. Particularly from the night staff on coral ward (other than Amina) Very poor care for Mum, and zero help or advice on breastfeeding for a first time mum - without having to ask over and over. Food was often ordered and didn’t turn up. Went without meals and had to get partner to bring food in. Bed linen was unchanged for 48 hours and was soiled with blood. Generally a poor experience that lacked care empathy and attention

Suggested improvements
More advice on breastfeeding and latch Do not tick off boxes on the maternal care notes stating that questions have been asked or duties carried out that clearly have not been. On discharge I read my care notes thoroughly and things were ticked off by staff which had not been offered discussed or carried out with me.

Review of Queen’s - Accident & Emergency

My mother was rushed to resus by the paramedics with suspected sepsis, we spoke to a Dr who gave her an antibiotic tablet and then moved her to Majors hallway where she had to wait 14 hours, was spoke to a Dr’s assistant who checked her obs and sent her for a CT scan. It wasn’t until the day staff started and examined her then she was rushed back to resus, now extremely poorly.

Suggested improvements
The Dr should not have moved my mother out of resus and should have constantly been checking my mother’s status.

Doctor explained things clearly. We discussed blood pressure readings and agreed a way forward.

Suggested improvements
Wonder if appointment letters could have a unique code that the reception team scan (or perhaps there is a self scan option). They seem to spend a fair amount of time trying to find people on their system. The chap in front of me was becoming stressed because he had just missed his appointment time while queuing.

I was kept informed all the time I was there the staff were very efficient and friendly. I didn’t have to wait too long to be seen and everything was explained to me.
