on Japonica ward nursing staff were friendly and helpful. COPE were excellent with great care and regular visits.

night staff on ward could have made regular 30 min checks on patients in the bays to ensure all patients were ok. this would have negated the majority of noise caused the help bell. Junior Dr covering the ward would not adjust pain relief though requested by nursing staff though obviously in pain and did not even come to the bedside. it was not until a consultant visiting another patient saw me in pain then went to the junior Dr to tell him to increase medication. COPE were very good but i had very little physio input - 1 visit all other visits by nurses then it was mostly wound care. The leaflet i was given had some exercises but i had to research to find exercises that suited me and strengthen the areas i thought i needed. elderly or infirm patients will not be ale to do this.
