Once you get an appt the NHS service is generally excellent. However, getting the appt is the difficult bit. I was referred to a Neurosurgeon by the Pain Management Dept on 7th March 2019. By 11th June I had still not received an appt so I called the Neurosurgeon Dept. They could see I was referred in March but confirmed I had still not been allocated an appt. A few days later I received a letter written on 11th June, giving me an appt on 21st Aug. If I had not phoned on 11th June, how much longer would I have waited to get the appt? I could still be waiting. Why does it take someone having to phone up to get the appt they are waiting for? This just generates more work in having to answer the phone. Meanwhile the patient goes on living in pain, waiting for an appt that feels like it will never come.
