My father was admitted on 28th December. He is currently on Ocean A ward. The communication is ridiculous. He was not told if he was allowed to eat and drink and was offered meals and hot drinks. We asked 6 times over the course of 3 hours until we were told clear fluids only. They then didn't bring any water. Had to ask 4 times over 2 hours for water to be brought. Jug upus not refilled. Dad often has to wait 8-10 hours before his water is refilled despite asking every time a member of staff enter his room. He was booked for a Ct scan as an outpatient. Hospital were made aware of this and said they would communicate with the Radiology team to move the scan forward and advise them he was now an inpatient. On the day of the scan Radiology phoned home to ask my dad if he could come in earlier. They had no idea that he had been in the hospital for 4 days. We are no closer to finding out what us wrong, just been told that they have found leisions on pancreas and liver, that was 3 days ago! So far we are all very concerned at the level of care and communication. The staff seem polite and for the most part friendly enough, there just doesn't seem to be any care, communication or responsibility.
