Review of Endoscopy
15th April 2021

Faultless dedication to patient care from reception to departure. The Endoscopy Department Team will make you feel like Royalty. My concerns about the forthcoming event evaporated within moments of my arrival. So thank you all for your understanding and professionalism. See you all again in three years :)

Emergency dept Sunday 21/3/21 evening ED Technician ? Jane very helpful wheeling my dad (being discharged home) from ED dept to car, thank you. Had been Polite to my dad whilst in unit. He'd also had politeness from a man offering tea & biscuits whilst waiting and the doorman helpful to ring through at collection. Wheelchairs lacking .

Review of ENT

Taken dad to ENT outpatients, allowed to attend with him as pushing his wheelchair. dr Pickles treated him with professional efficieny, respectfulness and most thoroughly, outstanding assessment by him. Overall throughput in department quick and easy. Emily, the assistant, was also very proficient and helpful. Felt safe in the hospital with appointment slots and a constant number of people but not crowds. Parking easy. Door attendant at North entrance helpful.

Suggested improvements
Only one wheelchair in main reception. More signs identifying the barcode machines , make them fluorescent?

The staff in the gynaecology outpatient department are brilliant. The reception lady was friendly on arrival and kept patients informed if a consultant was running behind. Once inside the consultation/treatment area the ladies immediately put me at ease. I was informed every step of the way during treatment and felt I was in control if I felt it 'all got too much'. The lovely ladies chatted to me all the way through and took my mind of a sensitive situation. Afterwards, I was given some water and biscuits while I waited to be picked up. I was also given some advise and information leaflets to take away. I felt supported the whole way through and also felt that the support would be there after should any complications arise.

The booking in process was thorough and I received good detailed explanations of what was going to happen and what I was consenting too. Details were double checked with Dr. That were unsure which made me feel I was with highly professional staff not afraid to ask if they didn't know the answer rather than guess it will be ok. The last time I had this procedure I had just a gown the addition of back opening bottom pants was such a pleasant surprise and really improved how I felt. I felt less vulnerable and protected my dignity. The procedure team and endocospist were brilliant. They worked seamlessly as a team and I felt safe, comfortable and fully informed. A much much better experience than last time. Recovery was OK, I recieved good care but environment and ambience was a little more casual. And I wasnt keen on how staff conversations could be overheard at the desk including picking up another staff member on failures which of course should be addressed but I felt it could have been handled differently and not in front of other colleagues that sniggered after. Discharge process could have been better hence marked down slightly.

Suggested improvements
Within the changing rooms I wish there was a clinical waste bin to have discarded of sanitary waste rather than have to keep in my bag I wasnt prepared for not having a bin. Not have used my canuler arm for blood pressure monitoring. The monitor could have been moved to the other side. It felt uncomfortable on that arm. Discharge could have been smoother. My nok I felt was called far to early and he was hanging around for quite some time. I feel he should have been called later or at least consider the time it take for him to reach. Although the information handed over to me was good the wait prior was confusing. I was waiting in discharge knowing my husband was already here and I didn't understand what the hold up was. Again didn't help that I was feeling spaced out tired and hungry. This part could have been better. I. E. Ring relatives from discharge lounge if very local. Clearly explain that paperwork is being prepared and that is what we are waiting on.

Had a knee replacement 30/12/2019. All the medical staff and ancillary workers were exceptional, from the time I was admitted, to leaving after a couple of days.

Couldn’t have asked for better care, it’s hard having been the care giver to being care receiver, but was treated with utmost dignity.
