I was treated as an nhs patient at Spire hospital in Havant for a urology procedure last week. Everything went smoothly and I was discharged on the same day. Unfortunately I had cause to call the emergency number the following day as I was suffering severe pain from bladder spasms, caused by an in dwelling catheter. I was not told that I might suffer this problem by the staff at Spire. When I called Spire, they basically told me “not our problem, sorry.” Call 111, which I did. They in turn told me to call my GP. I did this and was told I had to submit an online form with my symptoms and they would get back to me. To say I felt like being fobbed off by everybody is an understatement. However, my surgery did call me within 15 minutes and prescribed some medication to relieve the pain and spasms. I would not recommend going into Spire for any procedure. Private or NHS.
