The entire staff on my ward were caring, helpful and considerate throughout my stay. The whole team from trained staff to cleaners and porters treated everyone with respect, taking time to chat and ensure patients were OK despite their heavy work load. I felt safe and cared for at all times.

Review of Endoscopy
9th March 2022

I visited the Endoscopy department today 9/3/22 after having a conversation on the telephone with a wonderful member of staff called Holly about the pain I was experiencing and about the test I was having that day. Her attentive care and understanding was excellent from the time I attended right through to me being checked out and getting the best treatment at that time. Nothing was too much trouble for her..She is a credit to the Nursing profession as she has such a wonderful caring and professional manner.

Everything was excellent.

My family member is deaf and did not want their hearing aid in hospital as this was lost at a recent hospital stay. We were all very happy with his actual clinical care and the fact that he cam home COVID negative despite being immuno-compromised and the only patient in his Ward without COVID (Really well done everyone!) We didn't receive any information at all from either of the hospitals or treating teams which made us worry. However, when we rang and asked (several times) every person we spoke to was patient and helpful and we were given all the information we needed. The wait for Pharmacy pre discharge was many hours - that was frustrating. However, thank you ALL so much for helping him to get over a significant health crisis and return home in decent shape. We really appreciate it!

All staff were kind, caring and helpful. Very well run organisation. Could not fault my care in any way.

Review of Endoscopy
2nd December 2021

My initial contact by Jane was excellent, she explained everything and the package containing the colonoscopy information as well as the preparation instructions etc arrived in a timely fashion. The procedure and everyone involved were fantastic. I felt at ease and everything was explained to me. A piece of equipment was faulty which made my wait longer but this was not anyones fault. The problem came about when I was discharged. See below.

The discharge process requires a review. Everything up to the nurse contacting my wife went great. The nurse explained that I would be 45 minutes and she could collect me. I dressed and went to the discharge area where I waited 30 minutes thinking my wife had a problem somehow during the 5 minutes it would have taken her to drive to the hospital. I rang her to find she was waiting in reception and had explained earlier that she was there to pick me up. I had also asked one of the nurses where the discharge nurse was. Someone in reception heard my wife’s conversation and went off to find the discharge nurse. Finally I was taken to a room with my wife to be discharged. It was then found that my colonoscopy report was not in the pack. The nurse went off to find it and then explained the details of it to me. Folded it up and placed it in a wad with my signed form and other information. Before I put the paperwork away that evening I looked at the report myself only to find it was not mine. I had been given the information about another man and had no idea then what had been found. I found this very disturbing and rang Jackie first thing in the morning. She apologised and assured me this should not have happened and would look into it. I was pleased with that but just wanted to know what was on my report. Jackie rang back within 15 minutes and explained the report to me. I returned the wrong report and picked my report up, later in the day. In my opinion this would not have happened if the discharge nurse had carried out the checks that every nurse had done throughout my time at the unit. They checked my name etc against there paperwork and also checked the wrist band against this information as well. I hope this area of concern is reviewed adequately as my experience of a very professional department was let done badly in the final part of the whole procedure.

I was treated with the utmost care , consideration and professionalism whist attending the Endoscopy Unit in Queen Alexandra Hospital on 23rd November 2021. Pre and post care was also considerate with phone calls before attending hospital and also the day following my procedure to check that all was well. I could not have expected more and found the experience brilliant.

Where would we be without you?
