I found the Trauma coordinators and team, the Operation team all very professional, caring and informative. I felt very safe in their hands.
I was transferred to a ward, post op, for a few hours and unfortunately found that the ward staff were not quite as attentive.
The "hands on" and careing staff were dedicated and effective.
I was also seen at Stamford Hospital and received wonderful care there.
overall good experience
Dr Mohammed sultan administered an injection to my hip and kept me informed about the procedure was very calming and I felt very comfortable. He also allowed my son to attend with me for which I was very pleased. All in all a very pleasant experience, the procedure itself was a little uncomfortable but by no means agony. I’m happy to go back and have the other hip injection in a few weeks. Thank you Dr Sultan.
Thank you to all the staff at the hospital. I had to take my daughter In after she fell and hurt her arm. We came prepared to wait for a long time but she was all sorted within 4 hours. Everyone was kind and friendly and you could see how busy everyone was.
Always impressed by the staff and facility.
I received prompt and efficient service at the hospital apart from a slight delay in A&E which is, understandable in current circumstances, in finding me a bed in the stroke unit but was very well looked after while waiting! I could have done without a discussion about DNR! while still in A&E!
On a non-clinical note Peterborough Hospital needs to do something about its telephone service for callers into the hospital
I attended Peterborough A & E after my GP was concerned about my ECG. She gave me a letter and while I was on my way to hospital continued to try and telephone them to warn them I was on my way, but no one would answer.
On arrival it was like a cattle market. After seeing a Triage nurse, despite having an urgent letter the nurse told me to wait in the waiting room. After 1.5 hours I was given an ECG and blood tests these were taken by a brilliant nurse and a young trainee. The hours this nurse was working for the pittance she is paid is disgusting. After more waiting I saw a trainee doctor and had a chest X-ray and then was seen by another doctor. In between times I was back in the waiting room that was absolutely overflowing with people waiting to be seen. What I gained from this and overhearing conversations, 80% of people waiting were there because they could not get a GP appointment. The lady sitting next to me was there because she had a sore finger. Another chap was talking on his phone saying he could not get a GP appointment for three weeks so decided to come to the hospital. This is atrocious for people like myself and others that needed urgent care and being held up. The overall care I received by the staff was good considering the pressure they are under.
One thing I strongly object to and it should be dealt with, there is a lot of talk about obese and diabetic people and yet sitting in the waiting area are vending machines filled with chocolate, crisps and fizzy drinks. These should be removed. I saw several very obese people using these during my seven hours at the hospital.
The staff kept a very pleasant attitude despite being under such great stress.
Staff were courteous and professional at all times.
I was kept fully informed and and updated about my care and my treatment was performed as quickly as possible in a very bust A & E department.
