Review of Postnatal Ward written by a patient
3rd August 2020

Following a c-section, I stayed on the antenatal ward for three nights. I was involved in my decision to stay that long based on wanting my own physical recovery to improve (I was enjoying the regular pain relief!) and also to receive breastfeeding support. At no point did I feel rushed or pressurised to leave the hospital which I was grateful for as a first time mum. I received regular BF support from midwifes and infant feeding specialists (although sometimes the information/advice was contradictory). The care throughout my stay was brilliant and I would highly recommend to anyone considering where to have their baby.

Review of Delivery Suite written by a patient
3rd August 2020

I was being induced due to a late diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes which was the opposite of the water-birth I was hoping for at the birthing centre. However, throughout the process, I asked for time to consider my options before making decisions which was respected and granted. This helped me feel empowered about how my labour and delivery was unfolding. My birth preferences, where possible, were followed by the midwifery team. I felt safe and cared for throughout my time on the delivery ward from induction, waters being broken, early labour and then throughout my emergency c-section.

Review of Ward 32 written by a patient
4th July 2020

I can’t thank the doctors, nurses and support staff enough for the care and attention they showed me recently for an elective operation. I felt completely safe and comfortable in their hands and could not have asked for any more from them. Special thanks must go to my consultant, Mr Simon Bailey and his team who performed the operation, along with the colorectal & stoma nursing teams and all who I came into contact with on Ward 32. There are too many names to mention them all here but I do hope this collective team thank you reaches everyone that played their part. From diagnosis, right through to the end of my treatment, they have been amazing. Thank you!

My daughter gave birth at 29 weeks gestation. I was there as her support partner. There was no bedding or appropriate bed for me to stay on. My daughter needed me to collect milk in syringes, no one else was available. I slept on a chair one night and then had to go home the next because I couldn’t sleep. You were shut in the room with little advice or help. I appreciate that it was Coronavirus time, but when My daughter needed help and advice regarding expressing and availability of pumping equipment she had to wait hours for someone to come, despite the fact that the neonatal unit wanted the milk. The nurses were often in the office and when you went there you were made to feel you were disturbing then if you repeatedly had to ask them to come. On one occasion they gave her a dose of medication far too early. My daughter had taken them before she realised. I received more advice as a mother 40 yrs ago than my daughter! It was such a different environment to the antenatal, labour and neonatal wards, where people bent over backwards to help. Z beds were supplied and beds made. I cannot praise these departments enough! Come on Postnatal staff you are letting the side down!

Review of Accident & Emergency written by a patient
23rd May 2020

Superb care received during the 6 hours spent in A&E on the 10th May. All members of staff were friendly, attentive, polite, even if not directly involved in giving care. I was kept well informed throughout and was impressed by all the investigations required being carried out and reported on in the same day. A massive thank you to all staff involved for giving great care.

I was reffed to A&E by 111 and from the moment entered the hospital everybody was so attentive and professional. The nurses were wonderful but I must say the person who really stood out was The Doctor Mellisa Ceaser. ,nothing was too much trouble for her and she actually called the next day to see how I was and to tell what she had reported to my GP.
