I had pain blockers injected into my back .on 4 th July 2023 this was because I had a cyst in my back touching my back nerves causing sciatica pain . I was taking zapain and Pregabalin tablets daily . But after I had these injections done by Dr Maissara AlRikabi . Which really wasn’t painful. I was completely out of pain 4 days after these injections were done . It’s been 8 months now and I have no pain what so ever . Hopefully I get another 8 months of no pain but will have to wait and see. I am forever thankful for Dr Airikabi for giving me my life back again . He is amazing. Thankyou from Mrs Karen Bunn

I was treated at the Orpington Hospital on 20th April 2023. The care and respect I was shown in the Anaesthetic Room and recovery was exemplary. The staff in the anaesthetic room made me feel very at ease. I was quite poorly in recovery and the staff were extremely kind and caring, they deserve a special mention.

I have just been discharged from Boddington Ward after a 2 day stay following my hip replacement surgery. From the time in the Mckensie admission ward to the time spent in Boddington ward I can only praise the staff for the care I recieved. The cleaning staff, orderlies who keep the wards so clean. There was a very good choice of food,2 meals and breakfast all presented beautifully. This was my 2nd trip to Boddington Ward,my first was TKR and I am expecting to come in again to get my 2nd hip replaced. I have nothing but praise for the care I received. Well done NHS .keep the good work up. Mrs Elaine Elliott.28/1/22 .

Recently went in for manipulation. Once again all staff on McKenzie King, Boddington., Theatres and recovery were great as were my consultant and his team. The only thing that let the experience down was the lunch. Fish and chips, great I thought. Nurse warned me it’s not like you get in the chip shop. The chips looked anaemic and soggy. The fish batter was so soggy, I had to take the batter off to eat the fish. It really is about time you had food prepared and cooked at Orpington, rather than sent over and reheated. Patients need nourishing food, not soggy that it puts you off.

A big thank you to all the staff on Boddington Ward where I was an inpatient following Complex knee replacement from 11th-16th December. Kept my pain well controlled. Were happy and helpful to all, even though at times they had to repeat themselves constantly, with patients with hearing problems. They were reassuring, especially when I felt suddenly unwell. Felt very covid safe fron the monent I went iinto Mc Kenzie King pre op to theatre and back to Boddington. Hope you have a restful Christmas and for one member of staff who I know can now not travel to be with his partner, big hugs.

On the downside, we had great difficulty in actually getting information from administration staff as regarding results of a scan. In the end it took three months after contacting PALS. My operation was due in December and twice it was cancelled i.e. as it was to take place on the Monday, we came home to find a telephone message late Friday afternoon stating it had been cancelled. The second cancellation was as I was able to leave for the hospital, some two hours notice. No one seems to think of the patient's stress levels. Once in, I was treated and nursed well and discharged within a couple of days. I left hospital without the aid of a DN which I felt would have helped my situation having had a hip replacement. We did ask but the nurse was adamant I went to my Surgery. We had two set dates to arrange a Nurse at our Practice for change of dressing. No nurse was available at our Practice for the first date and my wife had to get me to their second practice, some distance from home by car, and then I just saw a Health Assistant. My wife's fears were founded in that she could not park near the Practice and I had to walk some distance for treatment. Whilst very capable, my wife has her own health issues and was extremely worried about getting me there. With asthma adding to the mix, my wife had to phone the Practice within a couple of days and say things weren't working out and, eventually, we got a DN to visit and had a telephone consultation with the GP. We did feel out on a limb, so to speak. With a DN visiting, it turned the whole situation around and, whilst we are active and independent, gave us that necessary support for a couple of weeks. With operations, such as hip replacements, I do think visits by the District Nurse are supportive and advantageous. With no DN backup the first week it gave my wife and I tremendous worry and a feeling of isolation. I had the first hip replaced at Guy's and they automatically arranged a DN and was much easier than this time.

Despite having undergone a very recent reorganisation and redecoration, Orpington Hospital staff were great in looking after my Mum for her hip replacement in Nov. Although they were still finding their feet in terms of the newly redecorated ward (eg there were no clocks up in the ward, so nurses had to bring a phone/watch with them every time patient notes needed updating), their care and attention were great. The follow-up care continues to be excellent and efficient. A great new service to come out of the embers of the South London NHS Trust dissolution. Thanks to all involved.
