I could not fault the care I received from the Optegra staff, they were extremely friendly and kind and answered any questions I had - and there were lots. The hospital was clean with excellent facilities.

I did quite a bit of research into this subject as you may imagine. Eyes are way too important to risk in my opinion. After browsing the internet and doing some extensive research (which included visiting several alternative service providers) I attended the Optegra 'introductory evening' where lots of very good questions were asked by the attendees and answered in plain and simple English by specialist surgeon Mr Mark Wevill. After this I opted for Optegra, and I am really pleased I did. The service was efficient, friendly and very professional. The Optegra team certainly know how to look after a patient. My operations were done over a two week period thus allowing sufficient time for the first eye to heal before operating on the other. This is the preferred way as it reduces the chance of infection and allows you to be able to work between ops too. Some aspects which may be useful to the team: 1. It may be worth explaining the procedure in more detail. Its a two step process, where the eye is prepped by a laser device, after which the surgeon then uses instruments to remove the old lens and replace it with the new one. I thought the op was over after the initial laser work (it did feel a bit quick!). It is possible that I was not overly attentive when this was initially explained of course. 2. Music was playing (it was the radio) and I have an acute memory for Tiffany's 80s classic "I think we're alone now" which was the track playing to my first operation. Now, this is an upbeat number and I wonder if the op was paced slightly faster because of this? My second op was Percy Sledge's "When a man loves a woman" which seems a more sedate pace to me. Funny the things we remember eh? My point being that if some music was playing that had some inappropriate eye references then this could make some people feel uncomfortable (Gary Gilmour's Eyes, The Eye of the Tiger, Blinded by the Light etc). This is not really negative feedback and my overall experience has been first class.

Having been put off surgery for several years by the hard sales approach of a competitor I decided to give Optegra a shot as they offered a fixed price. From consultation through to aftercare my experience has been first class, with no pressure applied and lots of opportunity to ask questions, which generally isnt needed due to the quality of the information provided. The result of my surgery has been perfect and whilst the list of possible side effects is very long, following the advice given in aftercare would reduce risks and general discomfort significantly. Even after Lasek I was able to work on the laptop for short periods the day after. Each visit was very slick and the staff very friendly. The premises are clean and pleasant and all the necessary facilities are there to put you at ease and make you comfortable. I really cant rate it highly enough and the most surprising thing is that the price was really very reasonable. My only regret is not having visited Optegra the first time around and I am recommending to many friends and family who have been really impressed by the price and results i've had.

I can't speak highly enough of the hospital or the staff at Optegra. All the staff were caring , friendly, and helpful. There was a lovely calm and welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.
