Surgery (Mr Kalairajah) was very efficient, careful and thorough. He performed a very successful hip replacement. It was a calm and stress-free experience and I felt in good hands with a confident theatre team. Pain control was efficient, once I was taken off morphine, which induced nausea. I was impressed as I thought that this was changed because I was not eating (although the food was excellent) and I felt that the different teams shared information about the various patients in their care, even down to the visiting catering staff. The medical and nonmedical staff were all positive and cheerful, without being over-jolly with drowsy post-op.patients. The nurses I particularly noted for sensitivity and friendliness as well as efficiency were Alline, Kirsty and Sellerie (which I have no idea how to spell!) Maybe the admin. side of things could be a bit more crisp, as I was not given any physio follow up appointments until the ward clerk phoned once I was at home, to check this. I had assumed that I didn't need any. I was also expecting to see my surgeon for a few minutes for a quick debrief after recovery and before discharge.
