I went for a doctor to have a look at my throat as I was worried about hoarseness. The consultant was very good but I felt the examination wasn't thorough enough. My main concern is that after paying the consultants fee I thought that was it. However a month after paying him I received a invoice for £150 for the consultants hire of the camera they put down my throat. I would have thought this was part of the payment as the whole appointment lasted about 20 minutes and the camera for about 5 minutes (bit steep for camera hire for 5 minutes). Also why didn't they bill me for the whole process rather than send another bill a month later? Furthermore I think paying £450 for a consultation that lasted 20 minutes is rather excessive. The £300 fee was communicated verbally but the hire of the camera was mentioned in a letter I didn't think I needed to read as I thought the appointment was booked and cost £300. I feel as I have been ripped off quite honestly. I was reasonably happy at £300 - at £450 - NO

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Consultation fees are confirmed at the time of booking but if any tests or investigations are needed there is often an additional charge. We are always completely transparent about all charges. It sounds like the charge was communicated by letter but not verbally.
