My first appointment was in Outpatients F, all the staff were in great spirits, the waiting room was nice and bright, and i was in and out before my appointment was even due. My second appointment was my preop and everyone was so knowledgeable about the procedure and made sure i understood everything. I was more nervous about the blood test but i was amazed when i saw it was a 'take a number conveyor belt' situation. These people do this all day and i never felt a thing. My operation on my third visit went amazing. The anaesthetists were so reassuring and made me feel at ease, genuinely lovely people. And my surgeon was amazing, couldnt have done a better job. My aftercare in ward F3 was interesting. The nurses were fantastic and i felt they genuinely took an interest in me. I was upset to see the horrific behaviour they had to endure from the patient next to me. He was shouting abuse at them and calling them scum, there should be provisions in place so that nurses dont have to accept that behaviour. They all deserve a bonus for their amazing work. When i returned for my post op the nurse in outpatients F was lovely and said that this was her favourite part to work because she gets to see how happy everyone is at the end. I will however say that signage needs to be improved for Outpatients F as i walked around the entire building looking for it whilst still in recovery.
