Overall my care was excellent in the spinal unit and the staff delightful and so hard working. There were occasional issues when I needed pain relief and staff were just too overstretched. Once or twice there were problems with the less senior staff, mainly due to English not being their first language, when I had to complain to a sister. One occasion when someone was rude and shouted at me because I couldn’t turn over (wasn’t allowed to) to reach my bed control and did not help me. Those staff do not know what the patient’s condition is and it is not for them to say what someone can or cannot do. All the cleaners and those who helped at mealtimes were kind and cheerful.
My only other issue was that I did not feel my occupational therapy was complete when I left and I could not do all that they said I should.
It would be good to have had a working television in the room when I was lying on my back unable to read and more green vegetables and fruit in the diet!

I was admitted to AMU on 2nd June 2021 for a short time and then transferred to Exmoor ward, for 5 days where the care, professionalism and attention was brilliant.
The staff were all exceptional but particularly nurses Jess and Sumi and HCA Daniela. Their personalities shone out as well as their care which made the stay as good as it could be.

This hospital has some of the top specialist working there so I always knew I would be in safe hands! The nursing staff are amazing they made me feel safe and as at home as I possible could. They always explained what they were going to do and let me ask any questions I had.

I (Sandy Foote) was in Gould ward from 6th of February for a spinal operation. I would like to thank everyone on Gould Ward and Occupational Therapists for the care and support that I was given throughout my stay. Thank you for my swift treatment and for getting me home so quickly after my operation. I want to thank Mr P Thorpe and all his team, especially whoever closed the operation as my scar is practically invisible and I have been able to make great progress in my recovery.
Thank you all for my care in such a difficult times.

The care I received while under treatment at Musgrove Park was excellent from Consultant to ward nurses. Would be more than happy to go to Musgrove Park Hospital for any treatment I should need in the future.
