Review of Birthing Centre (Maidstone) written by a patient
14th October 2019

The whole experience from start to finish was outstanding and I couldn't of wished for better midwives. From Jane helping me deliver to Linda stitching me and Fiona (student midwife) helping me get my baby latched on for the first time and talking me through what's happening next etc shower tthen take us to our room. The day midwives were equally as helpful especially when I had questions about breastfeeding and him sticking up. The only thing that could be improved was at night, wa very noisy, people stomping up and down the corridor I found it very hard to rest. Otherwise I'd highly recommend the birth centre to everybody.

Review of Acute Medical Unit - Maidstone written by a family member
12th October 2019

My mother was recently admitted to AMU, and I have nothing but praise for the staff and the way we were treated whilst she was there. My mother was on the unit for 4 days before she died and she was always treated with dignity and respect, even though she was unconscious during this time. The staff were very courteous to us, the family, during this stressful time and couldn’t have been more helpful, allowing us to visit anytime and explaining my mothers condition to us and answering our questions, even giving us a direct number to the sister in charge should we need to call 24/7. Words cannot describe how grateful we are for all the support we were given and for the exemplary care Mum was given in her last days - Thank you.

Review of Acute Stroke written by a patient

Inpatient care fine outpatient appointments not made. Discharged 28th November told Dr Thom wanted to see me in 2 months. Wasn't given an appointment until March. Dr Thom said at the March appointment in a couple of months but I am still awaiting appointment it is now October. Spoke to Dr Thom's Secretary to ask when I would be seen and she said.it would not be anytime soon ad Dr Thom was working through a backlog of patients. I asked if I could see a different doctor but was told only Dr Thom was available.

I was referred to the Peggy Wood breast care centre after a routine mammogram. It took only two weeks from the initial mammogram to being seen for a biopsy. I was seen promptly and all aspects of my treatment were excellent. Above and beyond the perfect medical care I was given was the attitude of the staff. All, even the receptionist, were caring and empathetic. Best of all was the gentle sense of humour they displayed, enough to dispel the anxiety I was feeling. If it wasn’t for the 2 rather large needles used for the biopsies I would say it was an extremely pleasurable two hours.

Review of Eye Day Care Maidstone written by a patient
30th September 2019

Although I was treated well by all the staff, I felt very isolated after my operation whilst waiting for my medication to be given to me so I could be discharged. Patients who had been operated on after me were going out of the ward before me. I was the last on the list for cataract surgery and although I was seen at 3.50, I didn't get discharged until nearly 6 p.m. The excuse I was given was that the doctors kept interupting the staff as they needed to use the computer which was also needed to order the medication. Surely, there must be more than one computer in the Day Case Unit. Why isn't the medication already waiting for patients after surgery. My sister had been waiting for me for 6 hours without being told what was happening or when I would be operated on. She had driven all the way from Surrey in order to take me to hospital and back to her house to recuperate. We both felt badly treated.

Review of Acute Stroke written by a patient
27th September 2019

Excellent care from all from Dr. Thek, all the nurses (particularly Abbey and Amy who sorted things out so cheerfully) and the ancillary staff of kitchen and cleaning dept. The only fly in the ointment was the agency nurse who failed to give the patient her drugs or pass on any information about her discharge. Many thanks to all!
