Had an appointment for results of a biopsy testing for skin cancer, as you can imagine the wait is horrendous. Received a telephone call cancelling my appointment as consultant sick, I asked to see another doctor as really need to know the outcome but was told no have to see the same consultant. I think this is disgusting behaviour to keep me waiting god knows how long now for another appointment. Surely another consultant can give me the results. Receptionists really have no idea how patients are dealing with the stress.

I have been waiting for a community psychiatric nurse now for over three years. Within this time I have been appointed several different consultants, all of which adds to the confusion of me struggling to maintain a single relationship. One man that I have never met before asked me a private question "do you believe in God". I had to fight myself to be able to answer his question honestly and he was smirking at my response. After this he tells me that he thinks that I do not have a disabling condition. A lady previous to this asked me what medication I was taking, amongst the medication was hemp oil. She wrote this down as cannabis as of which contributed to a stoppage of the benefits that I was previously receiving. The practice claimed to have sent me an appointment letter and a reminder once (which they never), then had reported that due to my absence it's suggested that I require no help. I discovered this with help from my GP. You expect to have help provided to guide your mind in the correct direction however what you will receive is a total disruption of any control that you have managed to gain over yourself.

I am under the care of a consultant psychiatrist at this hospital as an outpatient. I find the consultant very cold, clinical and generally unempathetic. I do not feel comfortable in his presence due to his demeanour and I feel unable to talk to him about the problems I have. I was told that my GP prescribes a medication incorrectly and that I am partly to blame for taking this medication. In addition to this I was told that he would like me to stop taking all medication on the idea that I will simply 'get stronger'. I asked what therapy I would receive to enable to to 'get stronger' and l was told that no talking therapy is available to me. Since being told that I need to become stronger I have not noticed any improvement in my mental health. With no support or input I do not see how the consultant's seemingly simple plan will work out. The same consultant reduced one of my medications. I was ill after the reduction. When I asked him about this he said that others would not have been ill as a result of this change and that it was in fact the beliefs I hold about medication was the cause of my illness. If mental illness could be improved by a professional telling a patient that they need to 'become stronger' then I am sure it would be groundbreaking news by now.
