I fell unwell with a sickness and diarrhoea bug late Thursday into Friday morning and after passing and vomiting blood about 4am Friday morning I went to hospital at 5:30am. The staff were all great, a few miserable people on the front desks that didn’t obviously want to be there and wasn’t helpful but the nurses and doctors acted quickly when i was still vomiting waiting. I was quickly given an anti-sickness drip and fluid and given a bed on a ward all by 7am which for A&E I personally thought was very efficient.
Everyone treated me with respect, the doctor come around a lot quicker than I was told and was with me by 9am I was discharged by 11:30am after the correct treatments.
Doctor was good in explaining issues and took the time to undertake all tests.
On the whole treated really well, but there was a period of about 3 hours ehere no one was seen from the waiting room - would of been nice yo be checked on. Different people were being told different information - but on the whole people were great.
Overall experience was good but the negative was the time it took to do anything! 4 hours for a scan! Hours and hours wait to see a doctor
Firstly I came in with a letter from the GP with low calcium. Doctors did a blood test But not calcium only full blood. I was then sent over to the main a&e and they did not have any record of bloods take me so took some more.
The doctor was very dismissive and did not look into why I was there just said calcium has rises now. I also said previously after surgery my calcium took a long while to recover and she wrote the opposite in my discharge letter.
My overall experience was very positive.
The receptionist at tte A&E ( NOT the one in inner cubicle of urgent care) was wonderful, sympathetic and professional.
The Doc who saw me in the urgent care area FIRST before I was transfered to the A&E area was very extremely kind and understanding.
( sincere apologies, I was too weak to acknowledge and now recall any names).
The doctor who then assessed me in the A&E area before setting up the possibility to be transferred to Queen's as well as the doctor/ nurse who set up the cannula were both very friendly, understanding and professional. Really kind and sympathetic to say the very least.
I was well informed and knew exactly what the plan was for me going forward.
I was then transferred to bay 16 in Majors and was well looked after by Sona and another two Asian nurses who were so very kind( apologies again for not mentally registering any names ) even the male nurse who took my final vitals before I was discharged, was so very kind and cared with a smile .
Finally Dr I Postma who consolidated my care before discharge, was also ABSOLUTELY brilliant and explained things very well and true to his word , passed on my updated notes to my G.P.
Overall, I hope I do not need to visit the hospital again, but that said, the MEDICAL staff were wonderful and we should all be proud to be served by the NHS .
They were very efficient kind and understanding.
Absolutely terrible service. Waited nearly 10 hours and didn’t even get to see a nurse or doctor.
Nurses were great, kind helpful, the lady bringing tea coffee. Didn't see doctor until 12 hours. Waited doctor came in the end didn't say anything. Nothing was told about X-rays, ecg or blood results very long wait with no information
We came in at 3:30pm and waited for 3 hours before being seen and for a total of 7 hours we were there
