All were polite, informative ad friendly
I waited hours before anyone could even tell me what plans I had for my treatment. When putting a cannula in my arm, it was so excruciating that he missed the pain and I’m now bruised up all my arm. I asked the nurses to take it out and discharged myself because I was in so much pain
I found the whole experience excellent. I was only in for half a day but I had a very kind and caring nurse called Larissa, who was great at her job, very empathetic, kind, caring and put me at ease as she knew of all the troubles I have had.
No one told me about my tests and the results. Only that everything is 'normal'.
What does that mean?
The doctor who saw me after 13 hour wait was extremely patient informative and caring.
They treated me very well
I feel I was well looked after and received plenty of information about my health and medication that I didn't know
I attended the A&E last Tuesday, in view of ITP. The GP from the minor A&E was very unapproachable and made me feel worst as she said that she could not touch me nor my phone (to show her the pictures I had taken ) and neither my meds in view of tuberculosis. I reminded her that it was non-contagious by the way. When I informed her that I was bleeding per vagina (menses stopped for almost 6 years). I was quite sure my platelets were low, but she disregarded it, telling me that I would have to see the GP. I better not saying anymore but waiting for the blood results. I made sure that the clotting factors etc were included in the blood request.
Finally she came back to me nicely, to let me know that I would have to go to the Major A&E as my platelets were 6. The team there was amazing and my heartfelt thanks to them all and my apologies to have bothered them, honestly.
Just to say, that I am a neonatal sister too working at Barts Health and it was not fun for me to knock at the door of the A&E if my matron would not have advised me so. As I had already called the TB nurse to let her know about the situation - who recommended me to take pictures of my legs (thrombocytopenic) and to come the next day for blood tests. Then I texted my matron to let her know that I would come late to work with the pictures taken.
Once again, I apologise for any inconveniences caused and I would not wish it to happen to anyone seeking medical assistance from your trust.
Great paramedics, wait time for doctor absurdly long.
I was seen pretty quick as there weren’t any patients waiting, and the experience was positive
