14th April 2021

I was admitted to King Georges on 14 04 21 with the agreement of a hospital doctor as a result of a discussion with the Community Treatment Team. I had been unwell for a few days. The idea was that I be admitted for further diagnosis and treatment. My main concern is that I have Parkinson’s and was not given the medication I required by the hospital staff. No one asked about medication or took the medication from me. Both the Community Treatment Team Nurse and Paramedics took a note of the medication and where it was stored before I was admitted to King Georges. Taking this medication on time is very important and I even have a Parkinson’s in the UK medical bag to alert hospital staff. Fortunately I had some Parkinson’s medication in my dressing gown pocket which I self administered. Thankfully I had a medication alarm on me to remind me when to take it. It was difficult to talk with the staff as I felt unwell and they were so busy. Eventually my daughter managed to get through to the ward to ask why I was needing to self administer very important drugs and to warn them.

Suggested improvements
Checked my medication, made a record when I took it and made sure that I was given my Parkinson's medication on time.
