I am a JAK2-positive PV patient and recently experienced severe bone pain in both of my legs. The out-of-hours GP referred me urgently for X-rays, but I was left waiting in the waiting area for 10 hours despite being in severe pain. There were no other medical issues involved that required prolonged observation, so I do not understand why I had to wait that long while suffering significant pain and discomfort. Sitting for such a long period actually made the pain worse. I feel the situation was handled poorly and lacked compassion for a patient already dealing with a serious blood condition and severe symptoms.

Suggested improvements
My condition should have been dealt with more quickly, especially as I had a GP referral letter clearly stating that I was experiencing severe pain. Alternatively, I should at least have been given access to a recliner chair so that I could sit more comfortably while waiting, given the severe bone pain in both of my legs. Although this would not have cured or reduced the pain itself, it would at least have prevented it from being further aggravated by having to sit upright for such a long period of time on a very uncomfortable chair in the waiting area
