Share review of King George Hospital
I was in king George for 2 nights after coming to A&E I had to wait over 10 hours just to be seen by a doctor as all night there was only one doctor working. I was in a lot of pain to the point it was making me cry I was left waiting for pain medication which I had to keep chasing up to get it. During my time at king George I had a funny turn, being sick, uncontrollable shivering, sweating and my heart rate had gone as high as 153. During this time I could over hear a nurse and a doctor talking about me to which the doctor called me stupid and said why was I wearing a hoodie. I heard the nurse say that I was presenting as having sepsis it took a long time for anyone to even hook me up to a iv to give me any antibiotics. When I was finally hooked up to a IV for antibiotics, twice the IV was taken of my cannula and a nurse was told off by another nurse for doing this as I was presenting as sepsis and needed antibiotics fast. After having an IV, bearing in mind my heart rate at this point was still 143 I was left in a side room for ages with no doctors or nurses coming to see me for at least 20 minutes. During my time here I was also put on the ward majors it was agreed that I would need some more antibiotics this was at 8am by 2pm I still had no antibiotics or fluids via IV. My husband and my self had to complain on 2 occasions. To not only chase up my antibiotics but I had not had my sugars tested the whole time I was at king George considering I am type 2 diabetic, I had not had any of my normal medication I take at home. Finally when a nurse came around with a bag of antibiotics she told me it was amaoxcillin I had already explained I can not have that antibiotic as I am resistant to a few antibiotics that being on of them, she said she would speak to a doctor. She came back after speaking to a doctor to which she told me I can have it as I am not allergic to it, I explained to her I never told her I was allergic I told her I am resistant to it and for her to look at my notes. This again took me complaining again to a doctor to get the right antibiotics.
