I was asked to go to A&E on Wednesday morning by Dr Rudd with a letter as I had a large cyst that needed to be removed urgently. Unfortunately I had to wait for over three hours in reception before being called through to be assessed, finally going up to the Surgical Ward at lunchtime, just a long wait until a bed was free. The staff all wonderful looking after me in the Ward, I had to fast from Tuesday night, only sips of water. I was put on a saline drip, paracetamol drip and given liquid morphine. I couldn't take any of my meds, of course. Finally had my operation at 11pm, didn't know they even operated that late! The cyst had burst slightly so didn't want to leave it incase I got an infection, I was eating sandwiches with a nice mug of tea at midnight. Discharged at 2.15 Thursday and brought home by hospital transport. I would like to say a big thank you to all the nursing staff and doctors I saw, very kind and caring. I loved the food too! Just unfortunate I had to wait so long at A&E as a bit of a mix up, I thought I was going straight up to the ward not realising because of the volume of people attending the department, plus waiting on a bed. The only thing I was completely shocked was how two physiotherapist shouted at an elderly lady on the ward, not acceptable!!

Tuesday the 6th of February (Day Surgery) I went for a miscarriage surgical removal operation and the ladies on day surgery made me feel so relaxed and calm, they explained everything so well. They were so compassionate and caring. Thank you very much for all your hard work ♥️

My elderly mum was treated by Keiran the nurse and Nicola the doctor, treated with dignity and respect. My mum is 84 and has dementia, her blood pressure was very low, she was monitored, had bloods taken, blood pressure checked and constantly checked on, we were in A&E for just over three hours. Mum was then taken back home to Beaumont Villa by kind paramedics. Luckily blood tests were clear, and blood pressure claimed up a bit. Could have been combination of flu and covid jabs yesterday, then having a co-codymol tablet this morning. I am so relieved mum is ok again and want to say a big thank you to the staff for all of their help.

I have had surgery twice at the day surgery unit at the Jersey General Hospital. One last year and another last week. I have had many negative experiences with doctors before (usually GP’s) however everyone at the say surgery unit was lovely and they were always trying to help and were incredibly kind both times I’ve had surgery. I’m quite a nervous person and I find it very difficult to deal with needles but the nurses, doctors, surgeons and anaesthetists are so kind and calm about everyone.

I would like to say I was treated with care and dignity by all the staff on my appointment at the Day Surgery for a guided steroid injection. Dr John Miller was cheerful and very gentle, his staff were very caring and reassuring. The staff on Sorel Ward were very curious and caring, so much so I did not want to go home the next day. I initially booked hospital transport the week before up on Day Surgery and was told I would be picked up around 11.30, which was spot on, the driver was very polite and caring, but on leaving Sorel Ward I was told I could not have transport as they were fully booked, so a taxi was ordered to pick me up around 11.00. I said I could not afford a taxi home, so they said the hospital would pay. The taxi was ordered through a firm with no name written on the side, and as I have limited mobility I was ordered a taxi with disabled access. The first taxi turned up, which had a ramp, but no seats at the back, I am small so could not get in the front or back of the taxi as seats too high, a second taxi was sent for again I could not get in, I have trouble getting onto seats which are too high, final third taxi arrived, I managed to get in. Once I was dropped off at home I was charged for the taxi, no receipt, not told how much, and I have phoned Sorel Ward twice and been transferred to a non too friendly woman saying I will be reimbursed, and she was giving the taxi firm a call, giving them my mobile number, not heard anything, I was only on Sorel Ward for an overnight stay, I am not a private patient, and I am on a low income. Very disappointing return home from a wonderful stay in Jersey General Hospital

I was discharged on 30th October 2022, after a total knee replacement. I am indebted to all the staff at Jersey General Hospital who looked after me so brilliantly. You are such a fantastic team. I prepared as well as possible for this procedure, but I'd never had major surgery before. There were various aspects of the immediate post-operative care that I hadn't bargained for, and the day and nighttime staff got me through it with much compassion and expertise.

Review of Podiatry
23rd August 2021

I have always had excellent treatment from all areas of the medical profession since I developed Rheumatoid Arthritis over twenty years ago. However, I felt I had to write about your locum Lisa who has been amazing since I have started treatment with her. She has taken the time to look at insoles and ways to improve my posture and accordingly be proactive in attempting to prevent further damage to my feet by poor posture and walking badly in the future. Just by trialing different insteps I immediately felt a difference and the impact it has had on my confidence and overall wellbeing is immense. I appreciate that RA is maybe different from the more regular ailments podiatry patients can have but I cannot emphasise enough the huge difference Lisa has made to me in the brief time she has been here.

Review of Physiotherapy - Musculoskeletal Out-patient Team written by a patient

Appointments were on time. Gym was well equipped. Staff pleasant. Improved - - Sessions could involve more of a workout or feel more comprehensive, especially when appointments are 10 days apart.
