I cannot fault my fantastic consultant surgeon, Mr Pavlos Panteliadis, together with his surgical team, and the fantastic nursing staff. Guy's Hospital are a breath of fresh air in their controlled health and safety regime. They are so considerate and aware of each individual's needs, and try their best to accommodate each and every one's needs/fobias.

My husband has been treated for cancer in the Cancer Centre. All the staff have been unfailingly polite, caring and helpful. I would particularly like to mention 2 members of staff: Alice, who is sometimes on the door and sometimes in the height and weight part of Outpatients. She is outstandingly friendly and cheerful, and always remembers us and takes time to have a conversation. We look forward to seeing her at my husband's appointments. Also Agnes, who cleans the women's toilets in the Welcome area on the ground floor. I have encountered her several times, and probably got in her way when she is trying to clean, but she has always been smiling and polite, and the toilets are spotless

I was to express my gratitude and share my experience of having had referral and then surgery and physiotherapy. In all my interactions with the NHS staff, whether receptionist, nurse, doctor or surgeon I have received a kind and gracious treatment that has taken into account my disability and appointment times. As a priest I have had to have specific times to ensure I am able to carry out my ministry and I was very kindly accommodated, even to being seen before official opening times to ensure I was not late for a funeral service I was taking. I would very much like to mention Mr Gidwani, Mr Alexander Vaughan, Sister Julie, the Physiotherapist Rachel and both of the anaesthetists for my surgery whose names I have sadly slipped my mine. The surgery Nurse was also very kind and ensured I was comfortable at all times. They have been superb in my treatment, having a great sense of humour, being kind and giving clear and succinct advice. It is a great privilege to receive such a high standard of care from the NHS and I do commend the staff for their gracious manner in these difficult times. With my thanks and gratitude. Shalom Revd Gordon MacBean

Procedure was carried out in the private care centre. Very attentive staff from all the nursing team. I had complete confidence in their professional attention throughout my stay. All staff went out of their way to ensure you got the best possible care. This was my second procedure at Guys in conjunction with HCA Healthcare.

Treat staff courteously and with respect. Look them in the eye, smile and be considerate. They are doing a tough job in difficult circumstances. If they are surly and curt and bordering on rude (some receptionists), be patient and forgiving. The NHS bureaucracy is bewildering and woefully under resourced. So, getting admin staff to answer the phone, can be a major challenge. More staff, better paid and motivated and improve the administrative IT systems, will help undoubtedly.

There was great care from start to finish - and I was involved in the medical decisions as much as I could be.
