Great Regards
Generally very happy with the staff and hospital but with the works going on it makes the visit a lot worse. At clinic appointments there is often a long wait from running late (2hrs late at our last appointment) and there are not adequate facilities for this waiting time
Appalling, complete lack of humanity/ compassion from most nursing & medical staff although anaesthetist & student nurses were great.
Embarrassing watching non-English speaking families yelled at unnecessarily by nursing staff when they didn't understand (shouting louder always helps foreign language acquisition!)
Many mistakes made but not acknowledged, we felt lucky our baby got out alive.
Staff need to listen to patients/families & communicate with them, learning a few basic social skills wouldn't go amiss either!
There are some fantastic, caring NHS hospitals out there, this is not one of them, they just have more effective PR, & fundraising teams & can cherry-pick cases
If you want good care, go elsewhere if you can - there are many unsung heroes in under-resourced regional hospitals across the UK, they might not have celebrity endorsements, but you & your child are less likely to come out traumatised as we did!
During my sons stay in this hospital we have received the greatest care we could possibly ask for! All my questions about his well being were answered promptly and fully. I could phone call at any time during nights when I could't be with him. All doctors and nurses were very friendly and treated me with respect. Nurses at GOSH are the best!!! It's up to them my baby son is alive and well !! I am and always will be entirely grateful.
It would be helpful if we were given a copy of the discharge notes in the future. My son had been admitted to our local a&e and that information would have been beneficial.
Everything about the hospital was fantastic.
Caring, sensitive and treated us as complete individuals
Great Ormond Street is a fantastic hospital though the administration of appointments occasionally needs to be chased. Overall, I feel very fortunate that my son is treated here and am very grateful for the expertise and care provided by the medical staff here.
Under the care of Mr Cuckow, the waiting area was very busy but a wonderful young man was present who was asking the children if they wanted to go and utilise the play room whilst reassuring the parents/carers that the staff would go and get them from the play room when they were called - great idea.
Was reviewed by Dr Clare Rees - even though they were busy we were not rushed, we were encouraged to ask all of our questions and were provided with clear easy to understand responses.
Dr Rees followed up our consultation with a phone-call as promised.
Thank you.
A wonderful hospital with superb doctors. The care we have received for our child has been world class.
