Review of Children's Inpatient
5th February 2024

We had a lovely night time nurse called Elly. She was really supportive and caring. Thank you. We were just disappointed that our babies 6pm dose of IM cef was handed over to the night staff, so delayed for 2 hours. It was the only treatment our 6m old baby needed that whole day. Handing it over to the night staff meant it was late by 2 hours (so not covered for infection in that time). It also meant we had to wake him up from his 6.30pm bedtime to give an IM injection. Seemed a bit mean and unnecessary. I feel like it wouldn't have taken alot of effort to give at the prescribed time, and if our nurse was tied up and couldn't give (I understand) she could have asked a less busy colleague to help.

It would have been helpful to receive the physiotherapy advice either before my op or straight after it as it includes helpful advice on what you can do to aid your recovery immediately. I received an advice pack 2 weeks after my surgery, which has been helpful, but if I had known some of the information beforehand I would have commenced the healing process a lot earlier.

I attended A&E four days after total hip replacement. I was told I would be admitted and given a scan the following day. I was kept on a chair in a side room all night with three other people. There was nowhere to wash, shower or change clothes. There was nothing to eat or drink. The following morning I was given a scan and diagnosed with pneumonia. I was provided with antibiotics and discharged. At no point did I have a bed.

Unfortunately if I could give it -10 I would the reason is that the lady instead of checking condition on my child when she had a seizure she was asking me questions not relative to the situation, they know her conditions from before there was all in the system and the answer that I have heard because I need to get to the bottom of it no reaction when my daughter was crying out and screaming out for a Health but she was happy to give me a question when she had a seizure . Totally unfriendly and useless stuff they just discharge my child home with meningitis!!!! Child is screaming out for a help again and when I rang the number provided , in the background they all have a nice laugh and happy time free on taxpayers money but they not happy to listen to you when you shout thru. If your child is ill and needs urgent help do not go to Gloucester pediatric unit that’s the worst place on Earth!!!!

Review of Gloucestershire Royal Hospital

So far we are 30 minutes over our appointment time to see our 7 month old baby with breathing issues. The guy in front of us has been waiting over an hour to be seen. How the NHS can decide to have a bank holiday is beyond me. The place should be fully staffed all year round. I am completely and utterly disappointed in the limited care we have received. When asking reception of a rough time to be seen she replied "I don't know".

Why tell someone to be at the hospital for 12:45 if you aren't going to see someone on time?
