I was admitted with a dislocated right hip.I may have made it worse myself, I don't know. it happened while I was working on my car I must have twisted as I was getting up, it must have dislocated then which made me fall backwards into the corner of the garage. An ambulance was called but we were told it could be between 2 and 8 hours before it was able to come. I understand perfectly well the reason for that, but I don't think I could have stayed on the garage floor that long and in that much pain, So I managed to get up with the help of my friends. and get my overalls off. My friend brought his car as near as he could and I manged to shuffle along on my good leg as far as the back of his car, he fastened some rope to the ladder rack on the car and I was able to pull myself along on that and eventually get in the car. ( it was not easy ) Getting out of the care at the hospital, was a lot worse pain wise, maybe because I had been sitting a while on the journey. I cannot thank the staff enough for getting me out of that car. The paramedics and the nurses that came to help. I was so sorry
to take their time, when I know they are so busy. When they got me inside I could not have been looked after better. Everyone was so kind and I do so much appreciate what you all did for me. Could you please pass on my thanks to all the people involved in my care. I am sorry I don't remember the names of the doctors and nurses, or I would have mentioned them.
Thank you so much.

I visited the hospital on the 10th January 2024 for a bone marrow biopsy. I wanted to express my thanks for the excellent treatment I was given. Due to me agreeing to go on the cosmos trial more bone marrow was needed. The care I received was exceptional and I wanted to pay a special thanks to my nurse Natalie who supported me throughout the experience, Dr Janaki and the 2 medical students Komal and Zeynab. I truly believe you have to have a special calling to work in this profession and just through talking with the medical students they truly love their vocation and I felt they learnt so much with all the wonderful nurses and doctors they are lucky to learn from. I hope they all realise how grateful I am for their caring, professionalism and the support they gave me. Thank you to all the above again and good luck to the 2 medical students who I am sure will be fabulous doctors.
I was let down by Glan Clwyd a number of times during my visit for a routine emergency operation in the following ways:
I felt I was not taken seriously by the first triage nurse I saw.
Failure to administer the intravenous fluids I required once admitted onto the SAU.
The loss of my COVID test and my surgical consent form, which only became apparent when I was collected for surgery.
Loss of blood samples while I was on the ward.
Unsympathetic treatment from some of the consultants and a phlebotomist.
The onus was on me to ask someone to aspirate me every four hours.
I felt I had to ask what I was being given intravenously, to make sure I was having the right drugs.
Overhearing consultants talking about me and other patients. It was a small ward, we can all hear you.
Failure to provide me with any sort of nutrition as I was not allowed to eat, resulting in a weight loss of about a stone over the two weeks.
Being told to keep an eye on one of the patients during the night (she’d tried to have a cigarette).
Lack of useful information on discharge and failure to inform me I’d been stapled and where and when I could get them removed.
Lack of follow up when I contacted PAL about my experience.
Overall, my experience as a patient of Glan Clwyd was a very poor one and did not fill me with confidence should I ever need to go back there.
The hospital was clean and well maintained
The food was varied and good
Every staff member was knowledgeable, supportive and brilliant at there job
From the domestics, physiotherapists, nurses, health cares and Doctors
I have no suggestions for improvement and
the only complaint I have is that I had to wait for fours years but I appreciate everyone is gong through this too
I had a colposcopy at the ward 19 A on 2nd of November.I want to say a big THANKS to all the staff there. They were professional, kind and caring.I felt safe to be care for with them.
I felt I had to praise all the staff on ward 19a having been in hospital for 3 days after my operation. From the nurses, cleaners my consultant, anaesthetists, medical students, doctors , I truly was put at ease and cared for and the professionalism along with the empathy I received was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and I honestly could not have been in better hands. To have a vocation in the nhs sector is such a demanding, exhausting , emotional path to follow , I feel so lucky to have been cared for by such extraordinary individuals who are a credit to their profession. Thank you so much.

Appointment for CT scan on Monday evening 14th August, despite having a bit of an anxiety attack, staff very reassuring & friendly. I would like to pass on many thanks to the staff who looked after me, overall treatment first class
The whole NHS in Wales is dysfunctional. 4 hour wait for a ambulance for a suspected repeat CVA.
Nine hour wait in ambulance in ED ambulance parking.
A further 33 hours on a trolley in Minors....
Dysfunctional.
Next time it will be significantly quicker for me to drive to Rhyl, pick up patient, drive back to Manchester and get treated at MFT.
I know because I've done it before...successfully. Want evidence?
I waited 12 hours to be seen by a doctor
