This hospital does not get the credit it deserves. Every time I have had to go there the staff have all been wonderful. They are all a credit to their profession. We all would be totally lost without the wonderful institution called the NHS.
I had amazing care in the Gynaecology Ward at Furness General when I was admitted with an acute appendicitis. Without fault all the staff were caring, professional and attentive. They were coping admirably with full wards, Covid, plus additional patients with dementia who were awaiting places in homes. Staff: patient ratios are not what they should be but despite being run off their feet, my care was exceptional. Thank you.
Could not justify travelling to westmorland hospital due to circumstances, but if I have an elective surgery in the future, I perhaps will. Want to stress that it was not the consultant, it was the nurses who have made me feel this way.
I was cared for in a and e and sent to a place called ambulatory care where everyone was wonderful
And kept me involved at all times. I had to wait a while to see a doctor but they are so busy and kept apologising for my wait which meant a lot. Keep up the good work
I was seen very quickly in A&E, my diagnosis was a burst baker cyst, which showed signs very similar to a blot clot. Because I have white coat syndrome my blood pressure went through the roof, procedure then meant that I was kept there until my blood pressure came down to a reasonable level. Really professional care, I felt it was important to give very good feedback.
I had a Ultrasound the nurse was extremely kind and was dedicated to here job.
I told here about getting Pregnant at 16 and told here I kept my Baby when he was born I rented a 2 bed house and took my baby to Nursery 5 days a week so I could work and provide for my baby she was amazed , he is now in his 50/s and lives in South
Australia.
I would like to commend nurse Sharon Gaskell for using her brains, not saying "my shift is finished now" as I was told by the first person I had asked and getting in touch with Mr. Talawadeka for me when I had decided to have the operation on my left shoulder, when I originally told him I wouldn't (then changed my mind). Sharon managed to contact him before he left the hospital and the operation was very successfully done.
She not only helped me a lot but also Kath in the bed next to me, in
Ward 1. I was in the hospital for 1 week and she works extremely hard all the time and really gets things done, when others let things "slide". More like her please, and give her a pay rise. In Ward 1 25th October - 1st November 2021. Christine Rose
The hospital itself is a bit old and tired and some parts of it were less than clean. There was poo on the wheels of the bed and the commode for the bed next to mine and the shower room left a lot to be desired.
Unfortunately I was in over a weekend when the staff operated on a skeleton as so many called in sick. I felt very sorry for the staff but it did mean that observations were missed and the people on my bay also felt quite threatened by one patient. It’s not an experience I would ever want to repeat.
At the time I was in, due to covid there were no visitors either so you feel very isolated and alone. Any longer and I think I’d have suffered badly mentally.
Amazing hospital with the most caring staff. Although rushed off their feet the nurses who cared for me during my stay were brilliant! They were extremely tentative and tried their best to lift the mood. Thank you all.
Very helpful, friendly, clean, comfortable and professional service
