I have had the misfortune to be in Frimley hospital for the last few days being monitored for a heart issue, my first visit having been submitted via a 999 call by ambulance following a possible seizure was basic a few tests after waiting in a cold corridor and sent home. I returned home and subsequently was resubmitted by ambulance after collapsing in work again by ambulance, the paramedics witnessed and advised the medical team of these facts but once again after being monitored in the a&e sent home to see my GP. The next day I collapsed again and was resubmitted via ambulance crew who again diligently reported concerns. Again monitored but eventually admitted to ward for monitoring and hopefully care. This is where I am now in a ward where staff show no concern as to maintaining a quiet restful environment, lights on all night no instructions how to operate cubicle lighting, staff working at desks talking and dealing with paperwork alarms for medical equipment going all night right out side your cubicle the layout is unbelievable. Staff room used by all staff to collect Thier personal affects, fire door used as short cut to outside assume staff carpark or smoking shelter. Apparently they do provide ear plugs and eye masks but none as yet. Quite frankly I cannot wait to get out. Don't get me wrong they suggest by all the marketing that they get results but as to basic facilities that give you a peaceful night's sleep you find it here. I do have insight into the provision of hospital facilities having been involved in the new BH in Crowthorne, the senior management need to take a look at what can be provided such as separate nurses stations, use of controlled lighting, life monitoring systems without sounds, MDT offices separate from the patient wards and how about some windows and equipment which doesn't rattle or sinks with anti siphon traps. As I said the staff do Thier best but all are not to the same standard or with the same agenda. As to carparking fees if you think you or a relative will be there for more than 8 hours by a weekly ticket £15 and if you do not need it help another and pass it on they are making a fortune from only displaying the price of in very small print. I wonder if the CEO and his senior management team have the same misfortune to be hospitalised at Frimley.
