Well looked after while in the Fitzwilliam, very caring staff. Clean room and good food.
Physiotherapy after care excellent.
Fitzwilliam hospital is a lovely little hospital with wonderful, friendly staff. I only had two issues in the 4 days stay on the NHS. I knew they were having a problem with their new linen providers but one day I had to ask if my bed could actually be made for me as I was at the stage of sitting in a chair after the hip replacement operation and I could no way make it myself. I asked at 6pm after being out in the chair all day. However this was noted that no one had come to make up the bed and the following morning someone came in first thing to ask if she could make up the bed. So well corrected.
The second was the day of my discharge the nurse who was allocated to me wasn't as competent as the nurses who had been allocated to me in the previous days. i.e I had to ask for help to put my trousers and underwear on and I still had to practically do it myself but explained to her she needed to put my socks on as I couldn't bend that much. She also did not look at my notes and if I hadn't checked the medication I was taking home with me I would have left without sodium and iron pills which was not good as I had to spend an extra day in hospital because they were trying to get my sodium levels up.
Other than those two things I had the best experience and care I could ever have hoped for. Well done to all staff and Thank You.
I have found the staff at the Fitzwilliam hospital very professional and helpful especially during these difficult times, I felt safe and secure whilst at the hospital
I very happy a doctors and nurse
I felt that the staff were stretched to their limits. At all times my care was good and the staff were friendly but I felt at times I couldn't ask for things because of the extra work it would generate.
Post operation when I was feeling my worst it would have been nice to be able to ask for a little more assistance and reassurance.
I had ordered a meal that I was unable to eat post operation and would have welcomed being offered some toast or a simple sandwich. Instead I felt nauseous and hungry which considering my blood pressure was low and of concern didn't help!
Small reservations:
There was confusion at first over the COVID-test. I was told to reschedule because the results were missing. Upon insisting they were later found on time for the procedure.
My wife had to wait during the intervention and had to spend 2 hours in the car. Pity that there is no waiting room with access to a toilet.
Generally speaking, the hospital is ok, although it seems to be not very modern. The staff, however, is very professional and pleasant.

It is a calm, caring and professional environment. All the staff members are friendly and helpful. You feel that you are valued and respected.
Very very polite which helped me feel at ease ! Can honestly say they were all lovely and well mannered
Just one small issue amongst a very positive experience. when I attended for my pre surgery check appointment ,with a member of the nursing staff ,I was kept waiting for more than an hour. This did not concern me as I understand incidents happen in hospitals that are not always under anyones control. The problem was that no- one informed me that there was a delay or spoke to me at any time during my wait. A communication problem?
Brilliant care at Fitzwilliam yesterday. The staff were very busy but still had time to make you feel valued and cared for. I am so lucky to live close to Peterborough do I can use their facilities.
Thank you for leaving your fantastic feedback, we are so pleased to hear of experience and we wish you all the best in your recovery.
