I had the best care possible, I was treated with dignity, thoughtfulness and respect by all that cared for me, nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend this hospital.

Although I was an NHS patient at Fitzwilliam I felt like I was a private patient and the care and facilities are excellent. If I ever need future treatment I will certainly try and be treated at Fitzwilliam.

Being treated for any operation is upsetting, but the Fitzwilliam Hospital does its best to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and the staff are in the main, very professional and helpful. When my husband visited for most of the day, at meals times he was always offered a cup of tea, and the ladies were always very upbeat and cheerful, which helps when you are bedridden. Because of its popularity, and the outpatient facility, car parking is a problem and you have to park on the road, which I'm sure will upset the neighborhood.

The treatment I received whilst a patient in the Fitzwilliam Hospital, was second to none. Every member of the staff, be it nursing, physio, catering, or cleaning, were courteous, professional, and engaging. keep it up folks, you have truly raised the bar, and many thanks for making my short stay a very pleasant one.

I recently had weight loss surgery here and was impressed with the pre-op care staff and Mr Tsang also. I was booked in by a nurse who struggled to understand me as she was not English and ended up getting some of my notes wrong I was impressed with the surgeon and anaesthetist at all times and a couple health care assistants, a male nurse and the night staff were brilliant. However I was absolutely disgusted with the treatment I had by several nurses. Several didn’t know what operation I had or what it was and even asked me what meals I was eating. I explained ed to them what sort of food/drinks I was allowed but not once was I provided with anything other than a jug of cold water when I came out of surgery. This wasn't even changed despite me being in 2 nights. My famity asked on 3 occasions for me to have some milk but had to be reminded as hours later it still hadn't arrived. I was told not to take any of my medication which I take several times daily for severe spinal pain, fibromyalga and ME chronic pain but they did not provide pain relief only intermittently so the majority of the time I was in excruciating pain. I was in tears on more than one occasion due to this and one member of staff told me to make sure that I rung when I was in pain, I did this on several occasions and was.told they would get something then didn't come back or another time said they would pass on the request to the night staff after their handover. Two hours later a nurse came to check me and they hadn't even been told. The same nurse one morning said she would check my wounds and change my dressings never returned and a male nurse ended up doing it at night and apologising for it being forgotten. I had good outpatient treatment previously for a foot condition so thought I would come here for the surgery. Biggest mistake I ever made. I have 3 friends also planning on having the surgery who will no longer be considering Fitzwilliam hospital. I do wonder if I had of been a NHS patient if the care would have been better. My surgical wounds were not even checked before I went home. When I had trouble post op I rung the hospital and asked.for someone to contact me and they never bothered. This operation cost me £9500 of hard earned money. I will never have inpatient care here again.

As a retired nurse I like a hospital which upholds the standards which I was used to during my traing years in the 60's. Staff across the board were diligent polite and kind. They listened to my concerns and were supportive in every area. The cleanliness of the hospital and the standard of catering were excellent.
