i want to cry! you now check in between the double doors BUT you are asked have you been away and do you feel ill by the nurse there - even if you have/are and answer no how are they going to know you are not lying? 2 pens on the desk which she wanted me to use to sign a form but i refused as at no time (i was watching) were these pens wiped over with a sanitiser and as everyone entering uses them i found this to be very worrysome. also letter tells you they will take your temperature - they did not. the premier lounge for private patients is awful - clock on the wall an hour fast as they did not even bother changing the time. notices on seats which need to be turned over when you get up were not so other people coming in were just sitting on them with no sanitiser cleaning done - the atmosphere is sterile and the treatment and face to face consults are sterile - bad enough wearing a mask but the distance between you and doctor makes heaing what they are saying and you being heard extremely hard - been 2 years since i was last there and it is so awful - especially as going for a cancer screening where they tell you the results and you can't even have your partner in with you for a cuddle should it be bad news.

Response from Fitzwilliam Hospital

We are sorry to hear that you felt uncomfortable during your recent visit to the hospital. We have introduced extra safety measures for the safety of our patients and staff, which does include Covid checks upon and arrival, and we also have restricted clinic visits to patients only, unless there is a medical reason. We will look into your concerns around the waiting area and the chairs and clock. However, we have removed most of the seating/tables to ensure social distancing is maintained, and patients are kept in the waiting rooms to a minimum. Please be assured that the nurses are here for patient support and we are putting patient safety as a priority during these difficult times. We wish you all the best and please so not hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns. Best wishes.
