Went into dorchester hospital following a trip and fall by ambulance. Was off loaded by the brilliant ambulance people into a+e then had a phone call from a doctor who couldn’t find where I was. After just arriving in a+e X ray department was good and had a small joke went up to a ward as expected on ward for the remainder of first day. Day two went down for operation had a dynamic hip screw.cant remember much of day two. Day three in pain asked for pain relief had to wait for the morning drug trolley to come around 8 o clock. Breakfast was good apart from no toast (bread butter jam and marmalade) ok I can live without toast. Physio came round to try and get me up managed to get out of bed put foot and floor and extreme pain so back to bed. Noticed dressing was filling with blood spoke to nurse but nothing happened. Early evening transferred to a different ward. Day 4 Breakfast good Spoke to nurse in regard to dressing filled with blood and had it changed Day 8 Awake early got up and proceeded to walk around nurses station Pain when physios came round but did some walking but leg still not responding properly so having to move leg with hand and stroller so not great Able to go home as could kind of drag leg and move to be able to reach toilet and washing in house. Still had not seen X-rays I’m kind of guessing that physio hadn’t seen them either or had not spoke to surgeon. Down to discharge lounge at 11:39 at about 2pm misses turns up asks and finds out they have not received my discharge papers so they will chase it up Finally released at 5:30pm Day 10 back to a+e doctor unhappy with my progress a+e busy finally get to x ray Surgical team see me and put me in some compromising positions and tell me it’s going to take a while due to healing but I can go home. Rang the misses to pick me up she rings a+e they say I’m staying in then a+e have to ring or find surgical team to check that I can go home and ring misses back this is not what I want when told I can go home by surgical and a+e are not told at the same time or notes not left Finally get a appointment with physio closer to home talk and explain to them what has happened up to now show them the photo of my hip screw and break and they say ok this is where all the ligaments and nerves go through the leg and this is why your leg is having problems at the moment until this is started to heal there are not a great deal we can actually do as this will affect the end result. Why was I not told this at the hospital and the physios and nurses not also told while they are trying to get me out of bed and moving.

Urology: Very poor consideration given to some one with learning disabilities. Lack of communication and information about what was happening or scan etc required. Everything took weeks to achieve even though the situation was urgent. Unacceptable

I yesterday had an appointment in Diagnostic Imaging dept. It went very smoothly and finish early. As I had a hospital car service could phone and asked to be fetched earlier than my time. But no cars awaleble so I had to wait to 4. 4-30 my time to be picked up. The young lady in reception called Laura kept phoning for me to see if any was coming soon. It got to 5-30 by then I was so tired of waiting so asked Laura could you please get me a taxi I did not care what it cost all I wanted to do get home. She said I have allready got you a taxi and it will be on us. Thank you so much but why because we want to see you home safety. Now this youg women Laura she could not have been better in any way she did all she could to make me feel wanted tea and would you like something to eat but I was not hungry but had a lovely cup of tea. Thank you Laura for all your help and thank you the Dorset hospital for the ride home.

. My mother has been left with severed nerves in her back and 100% worse than prior to her surgery. No explanation was given to her about the infection she contracted and the extreme weight loss from being unable to eat in the hospital after surgery. It has left her depressed as she knows she will never be the same again. Andrew Hilton should be held accountable for failing my mother and not performing the surgery she was told she was having.
