I have been under the care of Mr. Kunasingham, who did my keyhole bunion surgery last March. I’m so happy with the result of my surgery and would like to thank him and reassure anyone who may need this procedure that it is definitely the right choice to make. My foot has healed so well that it looks like a completely different foot! I have been walking on it properly and wearing trainers since the second week!
The scars are so tiny, it’s quite miraculous! I can walk without pain now and I think it’s amazing!
Mr. Kunasingham and his team have explained everything very well and been very reassuring all through my treatment and recovery. All the staff at Croydon University Hospital have been very friendly, helpful and and I would like to say a big “thank you”!
From Mr Kunasingham and his team I have received excellent care following my recent 'keyhole' foot surgery. 2019&2020 I had 'non keyhole surgery' on both feet, the difference is 3 weeks after this surgery I could resume my active life, compared to 3 months after 'non keyhole surgery '.
I am 80 this year and being widowed, live alone the bulky dressings mean unbalanced walking resulting in other aches/pains, plus preparing meals hard work.
All Mr Kunasingham's team have been approachable for my queries without making me feel a nuisance.
The 3 weeks before wearing shoes and no bulky dressings with 'keyhole surgery' results in my improved physical and mental fitness. The comparison to length of time it took to bounce back after 'shuffling' around with 'non keyhole' surgery is a great big plus at my age.
Through this 'keyhole' surgery team I have had a Physiotherapist email me exercises instead of taking conflicting 'Google' advice.
I would highly recommend anyone who needs foot surgery to feel confident they will have expert treatment from this team.
I had surgery on 3 toes I am very happy with the results, my care was excellent
I first presented at A&E on 3rd July 2020. I only waited about 20 minutes before I was sent through for urine test, bloods and Scan. Was then warded. I was an inpatient for 1 week. On 30th October I was again an inpatient following Colorectal surgery. I have nothing but the highest praise for the Surgeon Mr J Van Dellen and the rest of the nurses/staff. They could not have been more attentive and helpful and caring. Thank you Croydon University Hospital for all the care you gave me through this traumatic period of my life. Just one criticism can the food menu provide for people like me who cannot eat dairy. Almost all the food had milk or cream or cheese.
Toilets were in a bit of a mess with hand towels all over the floor and sink was dirty....
So first of all I would like to thank the transport department and the drivers Karen and Ken for their first class helpfulness and approach.
The kind receptionist on the CT scanning desk and special thanks to the staff within the scanning unit ie
Ann (radiographer) and Gareth ( both outstanding) who were so very kind reassuring and helpful
Just truly appreciate you
This hospital Is need of a rebuild. All the wards dealing with the elderly should be closed and the staff made to work in other hospitals and not slide down the mid`staff route.
The hospital have a great team.
would never recommend this hospital to anyone. My dad was receiving palliative care. There were only 2 nurses that showed any compassion. The rest were rude and unconcerned. When he was given a bed bath by one particular nurse my dad cried out in pain. I asked her to be more careful and she shouted at me "Do you want to do it yourself?" The cheeky madam. Another time a young man ,who I believe was a nursing assistant, gave him one and my dad said the water was cold. We queried this and the young man shouted at my stepmother saying "It’s not cold!!" I should have checked myself but I know my dad and he's not a liar and wouldn't complain if wasn't uncomfortable. The staff are extremely rude, have no compassion and see their role as just a job. I hate this hospital and will give bad reviews to anyone if ever asked about this hospital. I returned to the hospital to give a thank you present to one of the two nurses who I thought was wonderful. Unfortunately she said she'd have to share it with the team. Had I known that, I'd not have made the journey to give them anything.
