I was sent today via GP after being unwell for nearly 4 weeks. Firstly i went to A & E. i aas barked at to stand on a mark by desk and wait for temperature to be done before signing in. I waited and waited and waited! Eventually i asked the younger receptionist if i could sit and wait as i am classed as disabled. Another lady waiting said she had also had to wait ages. Its understandable if staff are busy but to expect somebody to stand waiting for god knows how long!!! Eventually somebody came out and she asked if i had any covid symptoms. I said i did with taste but i had a negative test. She then told me i needed to use a separate entrance at the side which i did. I approached the lady in the entrance and she said there were no walk ins and i had to go to normal entrance. I explained i had been through there and was told to go there. She then said she would ask (but said i could sit whilst she found out). I was then told it was correct and shown to a bay. I was then seen by a nurse (no introductions) after waiting about 20 mins. At no point did anybody collect a proper history / medication list etc. I went through bloods and CT and was given pain relief. I was given Ziv fluids and morphine pain relief through the cannula. All was ok until i was then told by a nurse a few hours later that i could go home. I wasnt asked if i still had pain or had the results explained to me so i asked what the CT showed. She asked if a doctor had spoken to me and i said no so she said somebody would come to see me. The young doctor i spoke to came to see me. She said my bloods were normal so i asked why i was having pain which she said she thought was a result of a previous surgery which she said her consultant had seen now and again. I said it was a year and half ago which she said she didnt know and she would ask the consultant! She then said i could take Codeine but leave off my morphine for a couple of weeks!!! I said i couldnt do that as i couldnt function without my morphine and she then asked why i took it. She said the Codeine would help with bowels. I said that i normally had to take meds to help with bowels and the fact that i had loose bowels for 2 1/2 weeks was not normal. I also said i felt extremely unwell. I had also lost alot of weight whilst being ill and felt very lethargic and weak. She said she would get consultant and that was the end of seeing any doctors. I left feeling very upset, still confused, extremely unwell after being off my feet for 4 weeks. At no time did i feel cared for in the A & E dept. The only care i felt was from the person performing the CT and the porter. I understand that the dept was busy and we are in the middle of a pandemic and i did say to my GP that i only wanted to go as a last resort. The GP knew i had been very unwell for 4 weeks and looked very unwell hence the referral. They made me feel in the end that i was a time waster.
