Review of Postnatal Clinic - Community (1383) written by a patient
22nd May 2017

I think all the staff were very good and I think I received a good standard of care. I think I was informed of how to get information if I needed it. My only issues came when booking appointments. The health visitor was not informed about my pregnancy so I had to contact myself for the initial appointment. Also my 12 week scan appointment didnt come through. Im not complaining but I think maybe something was completed incorrectly at my booking appointment.

I was extremely impressed with the care i received at Lingwell Croft Surgery, my midwife was Liz Sharman and i have friends who had different midwifes at different surgeries and they had problems. My midwife was truly wonderful. She answered any questions and queries i had, she never rushed me, she treated me with compassion, dignity and respect and i am so grateful to her for everything she did throughout my pregnancy and post-pregnancy. She re-assured me i am doing everything right and that my baby is thriving, which is a huge relief as i'm a first time mum and breastfeeding my daughter (Liz again gave me great advice on how to get her to latch on correctly and positioning and breastfeeding was much more comfortable thereafter). Truly a credit to the NHS. Chelsea Burnell.

All the community midwives and maternity support workers were excellent. Liz in particular has been our community midwife throughout pregnancy and post birth and has been incredibly supportive and has been on hand to answer any questions we have had and relieve any concerns.

Review of Community Delivery (1396) written by a patient

We were extremely happy with the support from the Leeds Home Birth team at the birth of our son on 27th April. They could not have been more supportive and respectful of the kind of birth we hoped for, namely with minimal intervention. All they needed to do was measure my blood pressure and the baby's heart rate a few times during labour - I think it must take a great deal of skill and sensitivity to know when it is ok not to 'interfere' so I was very impressed. Their 'in the background' approach made the birth an empowering and fulfilling experience, and I am extremely grateful to them for that. My feedback would be that the midwives were fantastic and not to change anything about the process of them attending the birth. If anything, to encourage more women to give birth at home, where appropriate. I think one improvement to the home birth care would be that the home birth team be responsible for the antenatal and postnatal care as well, as much as possible. I only met a member of the home birth team at my 37 week appointment and have had no contact with them since the birth. It would be much better to have had more contact with them during pregnancy and following birth, for consistency and to build up relationships and to be able to discuss the birth in advance.

The midwife team have been amazing through out my pregnancy and post birth. The only thing I would have liked to have seen the midwife I had prior to birth afterwards as she was amazing and it would have been nice for her to meet my little boy.

The midwife thoroughly checked my baby and myself to ensure we were well enough to be discharged from postnatal care. She was accomanied by a student who was also very helpful. Both were friendly and made us all feel comfortable.

I liked and needed a visit by a midwife the day after I came home . I know this was an option but feel this is an important time for people to be seen. I was Seen by lovely midwifes and wasn't made to feel rushed by visits and appointments which were always on time. Good I was asked how I was feeling and asked a few times for my stitches to be checked , haven't always in the past and have had infections so feel it is important. I had good advice about breast feeding when asked and this helped with the pain and attachment problems I was having.
