Reception staff very friendly and welcoming. The nurse that removed my Stitches again very kind and friendly and put me at ease. My doctor was incredible and don’t have enough good to say about him. From me been admitted to the ward I was made to feel like I was an inconvenience for them all. I had surgery at 6pm returning to the ward at not long after 9pm the night nurse on was very rude upon my return and during the 2/3 lots of obs she carried out. I was struggling with my breathing during the night and didn’t feel comfortable enough to buzz anyone for help and felt I was just left in the end room to fend for myself. The following morning the nurse removed my drain 12 hours too early and discharged me a day too early. I was in shock and asked her if it was right and she ensured me it was although my Dr had advised me I would be in another night. When my Dr came to see me he was also shocked I had been discharged and my drain removed so soon after surgery. He was also unhappy with the dressing the nurse had put on my wound to send me home and redressed it with a pressure bandage that I later found out he had to as the drain has been mistakenly removed. No lunch was ordered for me and no one had realised until the very lovely tea lady came round and I asked her what time lunch would be. She sorted some out for me before I left. The following few days my face has swollen to over double it’s size and after a follow up video call with my doctor had to make an extra 80 mile trip for a face to face appointment so he could check me over. It was at this time he told me about the mistake the ward has made. My face eventually reduced to normal size however did add a week into my recovery and the additional stress and worry on myself my 9 year old daughter and my family. This stay was during COVID restrictions so no visits were allowed ( understandably) and would of really appreciated a warm friendly atmosphere to make me feel more comfortable as I have had little experience with hospital stays and was rightly nervous about the operation. This was my first experience as a private patient and have been left bitterly disappointed by it. Not even an apology from any of the ward staff just a message via my doctor.
