All nurses ,porters, doctors intact all staff were very patient with me. The hospital was very clean and the facilities available to me were excellent. Both day and night staff alike gave me help and assistance when needed. Also the food was excellent. If necessary I would ask to have any further surgery at the Merseyside and Cheshire Orthopaedic Centre at Halton,Runcorn.

I was admitted for Total Knee Replacement Surgery 21January 16. From the moment I arrived I was greeted by friendly reception and ward staff. I was shown to my bed and found excellent facilities for personal belongings. The ward staff provided all that was needed in preparation for my surgery. I was visited by my consultant and anaesthetist who discussed my procedure and the anaesthetic I would receive, they left me feeling I was in good hands. I was taken to theatre by a male member of staff with a gentle sense of humour which helped me feel relaxed. I was met by the anaesthetist and his assistant together they administered the epidural and sedation, I can remember lying down feeling very relaxed and warm, my next recollection was a nurse who introduced herself and said she would be looking after me whilst in recovery. I was transferred back to my ward encouraged to drink water. My blood pressure was checked every hour throughout the night, drugs administered as required, excellent food provided, everything possible was done by the staff to keep me comfortable. The team work was clear to see. Early the following morning the physiotherapist visited, I was given exercises to do, I was encouraged to get out of bed and instructed how to walk with crutches, I practiced during the day. The following morning i was taken on crutches to the physio department taught how to climb and descend stairs safely including safe kitchen skills. I was discharged later that day with medication and advised i would receive follow up appointments in the post. I would like to thank the consultants, theatre physio and ward staff and all those behind the scenes who provided what is a truly five star experience. We are so lucky to have the NHS and the proffesional team who help deliver the best health care in the world. Thank you.

From the moment I entered this impeccably clean hospital I was treated at all times by everyone I met in a very professional but very friendly manner. I was admitted for a total hip replacement and expected to be there for 4 to 5 days, however due to a medical problem I stayed for nearly a fortnight, so feel that I was able to see more than many others how fantastic this hospital is. Every member of staff that I had the pleasure of meeting were professional but felt like friends you had not seen for ages and I have to say that I have never seen so many people doing such a difficult job in a very busy environment smile as much as they all did, we even joked on the ward that there must be a leak of laughing gas from the theatres upstairs because the staff were always smiling and joking. It certainly made everyones stay a much more pleasant experience, (a very big thank you for that, it was very much appreciated). Many hospitals in the press these days are slated for the quality of the food served to patients, so to the hospitals concerned I say... visit Halton CMTC and see how to do it properly. The food was fantastic! One of the patients on my ward said that his job entailed staying in lots of hotels around the world, many 5 star and that the food served to him whilst in this hospital surpassed the food he had eaten whilst in the top class hotels. The food is all home made (no frozen turkey twizzlers here!!) and superb, my favourite being the soup served at lunch time and the sunday roast served at sunday evening meals. I am a big chap but at no time was I ever hungry. Cleanliness was at all times of the highest level. I have been a patient in many different hospitals throughout the country but have never experienced such thoroughness in the cleaning regime. Also everyone entering the ward automatically used the hand sanitizer placed at the bottom of every bed on every ward and also available at the entrance to every ward. I could go on and on about many other things that were so fantastic but suffice to say that I would happily enter this hospital at any time for any type of surgery, safe in the knowledge that everyone is totally dedicated to the wellbeing of the patient at all times. There are only 2 places where I could find a niggle and both of these are very minor... 1, the sinks in the ward bathrooms are of little use for daily washing and shaving, a sink with a plug would be much better. Also, please remove the shelf above the sink... you bang your head every time you bend to wash your face. 2, the bathrooms doors need something to stop them banging closed, especially at night when patients are sleeping, (I slept like a log so wasn't personally affected at night but other patients mentioned their annoyance). In conclusion, this is an impeccably clean and bright building staffed by the most wonderful people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thanks once again for everything. Ken L

It is beyond belief that the NHS closed the Halton Treatment Centre which was a centre of excellence and a prime example of how a hospital should be run. I speak with inpatient and outpatient experience in other NHS hospitals. If economies had to be made they should have been directed at the hospitals whose failure brought resulted in the opening of the Treatment Centre. The decison to close was perverse and against the regard which all its patients had for it.
