We wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff in the critical care department. They were all fantastic and we really couldn't fault anything, they certainly made the whole process easier for us all. They really set the bar...if only this standard was carried on to the wards. While you can't expect the same level of one on one treatment in the wards, the nurses there could learn a great deal about how patients should be treated if they spent a day in Critical Care.

Review of Dixton Ward
11th September 2014

The level of care received on the Dixton Ward was unacceptable. We appreciate that it is busy but patients shouldn't be neglected while the staff are standing around having a chat and eating chocolates at the front desk. We had to ask twice to have the urine drainage bag emptied, it was full to the brim. We found most of the nurses to be quite disinterested and dismissive. When my partner raised a concern that despite the catheter, he felt desperate to have a wee and that perhaps it wasn't working correctly, the nurse was very dismissive and unhelpful. Shortly after he ended up weeing the bed which was extremely upsetting for him. He was made to feel that it was an inconvenience to ask for things that should come under basic care. In all honesty, the nurses didn't appear to be rushed off their feet whenever we were visiting which made us feel that these issues were not down to a lack of time.

appear to be understaffed , but most of staff hard working but lacked support. clinics always running late by a lot, and the parking is overpriced and difficult. building looked tired but was clean.

I have had many varied experiences of this hospital. Parking is horrendous. Often have to wait about an hour for out patient clinics. Most of the staff are pleasant enough. Had an overnight stay earlier in the year and found several mistakes in the way I was cared for, including diet, drip inserted incorrectly, lack of information passed between doctors resulting in a different diagnosis each time etc...
