As a person of colour, I have found my consultant to have a consistently racist streak which concerns me profoundly. The hospital appears reticent to deal with issues that relate to the conduct of its consultants.

My name is Javier Mancera Avellaneda, I would like to share my experience following kidney stones removal procedure performed by Doctor Hama Attar. I definitely recommend doctor Attar 100% because I have a positive experience from the first appointment to all the way trough my left kidney stones removal and recovery, at the beginning Doctor Attar answer in a very kind and professional manner all my questions and concerns regarding my kidneys problem and he make a plan in order to cure my pain and discomfort. It is strongly reassuring that my my kidney problems have been managed by the best doctor that I have ever been to. My profound gratitude to Doctor Hama Attar and the urological surgical team and nurses for the valuable help and kindness received during my pre operation, surgical procedure and recovery. I met Mr. Attar as I was accompanying a patient from Ethiopia back in November 2017. She was a young girl who suffered from a years of kidney issues and did not speak English. Being from a world the medical industry is poor, I had expectations that the industry would be much better and doctors will be well informed but I did not expect as much as Mr. Attar was. He exceeded my expectation. He was very humble, friendly, very well knew what he was doing, made us comfortable and welcomed, made his language so easy to a point the patient started understanding what he was saying through the weeks and most importantly he listened. During surgery, he was generous enough to arrange a nurse from Ethiopia so the patient was well taken care of in her language. He made the surgery easy and successful. He made sure he answered every question and kept following up once we got back home. I am very grateful for the care, support and professionalism he showed and recommend him for anyone from any part of the world. Tsedey

In my experience this hospital is exceptional. I walked in with a pain and within hours I was in intensive care. The Doctors were attentive and an on call consultant and the emergency team made decisions that I believe saved my life. I had a week in Intensive Care Unit, the expertise of this amazing department is exceptional. EVERYONE in that department worked so hard, NOTHING was too much trouble , they were ALL kind and attentive, although they are under extreme pressure they worked with a smile and had great camaraderie. I was moved from ICU to the private ward - The Chelsea Wing for a few days to continue treatment and recover. I am afraid to say that I was disappointed by some areas in this ward. On occasions I had to advise what my medication was (i.e. that I changed from IV to tablets for antibiotics) quite worrying for patients who are not well and not alert! Most nurses were very kind, Staff from admin visited twice with questions I had already answered previously. My room was not cleaned during my stay, my bin was emptied once. Catering staff were very pleasant. I feel this ward seemed to be heavy on admin staff rather than the nursing side, maybe that was why some nurses seemed despondent. As I say the hospital, I found through my experience, mainly was excellent. It is such a shame for staff to work under such pressure when they do such an incredible job.

Consultant made a false allegation that I failed to attend an appointment and used that as an excuse to deny me the care to which i am legally entitled as a taxpayer who funds the NHS. Wrote me an angry letter with a disturbingly hostile and hateful tone and kept repeating the allegation after I told him I never received an appointment letter. As this is a common NHS scam to reduce patient numbers and i had already busted another hospital doing the same - that hospital has repeatedly failed to provide evidence of an appointment letter despite a thorough grilling by the information commissioner - I challenged this hospital to provide evidence of an appointment letter, proof of posting and evidence of receipt by me. Surprise surprise, they rolled over and admitted there was NO APPOINTMENT LETTER EVER SENT OUT. Yet the consultant lied and even claimed a specific date of posting the non existent letter. What concerns me most is the way the consultant decided to wade in on the complaint and send me angry letters perpetuating the unsubstantiated allegation before the complaints dept had even completed their investigation. My personal feeling is that the consultant was behind the whole thing, probably under pressure to reduce patient numbers and thus resorting to high unethical tactics. I am disgusted because the allegation of non attendance is now captured on my GP record too; false allegations on patient records severely prejudice and undermine patient care.

I can not believe how amazing that these wonderful doctors and nurses can work under such pressure. It was so busy, they were understaffed and waiting times were long. But we were treated very well and we are so grateful! Thank you
